The Trojans, coming off a 9-4 season that ended with an overtime Alamo Bowl loss to TCU, host the Spartans at the Coliseum as overwhelming favorites.
Polymarket has USC pricing in near-lock territory, leaving San Jose State as a significant underdog. Barring a surprise, this looks like the most one-sided outcome on the Week 0 board.
NC State vs. Virginia: College Football's First Trip to Brazil
The strangest game of the weekend isn't in the U.S. at all.
NC State and Virginia will play the first FBS game ever held in South America, at Rio de Janeiro's Nilton Santos Stadium, the same venue that hosted the 2016 Olympics.
What was once a non-conference series is now an official ACC opener for both teams, after the conference moved to a nine-game schedule. ACC commissioner Jim Phillips said the matchup "speaks to the vision, innovation and collaboration of our league."
Virginia, fresh off a trip to last season's ACC Championship Game, holds a modest edge over NC State on the market, even though the Wolfpack won last year's meeting in Raleigh. It's close enough that either side finding support overseas wouldn't be surprising.
Memphis vs. UNLV: A New Rivalry With Group of Six Weight
Memphis and UNLV meet for the first time as part of a new home-and-home series, with this opener set for Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Both programs have spent recent seasons chasing national relevance outside the Power Four conferences, and the winner picks up an early edge in the crowded race among Group of Six teams for ranking and playoff consideration. UNLV holds a workable advantage on home turf, but Memphis isn't being treated as an afterthought on the board.
