Spread Pick: Kansas Alt. +7.5
For the first leg of my same-game parlay, I feel great backing the Jayhawks at an alternate +7.5 number in a game I expect to go down to the wire.
Kansas lost longtime quarterback Jalon Daniels, but sophomore Isaiah Marshall has taken over under center and looked exceptional in the Jayhawks' blowout victory over LIU in their opener.
Marshall completed 14 of his 19 pass attempts for 246 yards and two passing touchdowns while adding 50 yards on the ground as well.
I expect both running back Yasin Willis and wide receiver Nik McMillan to play vital roles in this Kansas offense, which was pretty evident in the Jayhawks’ blowout victory. The two playmakers having combined for three scores in the first game of the season.
Kansas boasts elite athleticism on both sides of the football and is also very fortunate to be playing in front of a home crowd in a game that holds the utmost significance for both teams.
Missouri also impressed in its Week 1 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Quarterback Austin Simmons threw four touchdowns, but the Ole Miss transfer looked a tad uncomfortable at times when facing the UAPB pass rush, which definitely stood out.
Given that the Tigers will also be without running back Ahmad Hardy, I just can't envision Mizzou dominating a Kansas team with a very tough front seven that will surely put a ton of pressure on Simmons in the pocket.
In a game I think the Jayhawks could possibly win outright, I feel confident backing Kansas to cover an alternate 7.5 line with a -171 price tag on DraftKings as the first leg of our Friday night SGP.
Kansas Player Prop: Yasin Willis Anytime Touchdown
For the second leg of our SGP for Friday night, I'm willing to take a shot on Willis to score a touchdown in a game where I expect to see plenty of offense.
While there's no doubt Missouri has a strong roster with a lot of experience, I remain concerned about its ability to prevail in the trench against a Kansas offensive line that has a ton of size and physicality.
I was very impressed with Willis’ efforts against LIU, evidenced by his two rushing touchdowns. I'm willing to back the Jayhawks' youngster to score his third touchdown of the season at +100 odds.
