Mississippi State vs Texas A&M College Football Betting Preview

Texas A&M looks like it's set to handle Mississippi State without much drama — and that's no disrespect to the Bulldogs, who are solid but just not clicking on a few key fronts.

The big thing is that Mississippi State is struggling to get any kind of pressure on the quarterback, which is exactly what you need to disrupt an offense like Texas A&M’s.

Looking back at the Bulldogs' game against Tennessee, the Volunteers managed to connect on 10 passes of at least 15 yards despite the game being tight into the fourth quarter.

Tennessee ultimately doubled the national average for explosive plays per drive. Well, Texas A&M has the weapons to do the same thing, especially with wide receivers Mario Craver and KC Concepcion leading the charge.

If you dig into the box score from the Tennessee game, 16 targets were split between wide receivers Mike Matthews and Chris Brazzell II, and those two combined for 223 yards. So, if you’re eyeing prop bets here, keep an eye on Texas A&Ms wideouts.

Craver is a pure slot receiver who's maybe the best at what he does, but Concepcion, Terry Bussey and Ashton Bethel-Roman are the guys who line up outside and could be the key pieces in this game.

The Texas A&M defense also deserves some props, especially after a rough couple of weeks. Against quarterback Jackson Arnold and Auburn, A&M gave up just one explosive pass. The Tigers averaged just 3.1 yards per play, and the Aggies defense finally showed up.

Their tackling, which ranked 118th in the country, picked up as well, as they missed only six tackles, which is a sign of things getting better.

I see Texas A&M’s defense trending in the opposite direction from Miami’s. It feels like the Aggies have legitimately turned a corner.

Mississippi State vs Texas A&M Pick, Betting Analysis

I have a 50-1 ticket on Texas A&M to win the national title from after last year's championship game, and it's time to start thinking about doubling down.

They’re sitting around -110 to make the College Football Playoff, and they look like they have the legs to run deep in the postseason.

If the defense keeps improving and Craver and Concepcion keep producing on offense, Texas A&M might surprise a lot of people.

I'll take the Aggies to prove that here on Saturday night.

Pick: Texas A&M -15
