The departure of Billy Napier as head coach of the Florida Gators left one certainty and one major question. The certainty is that Billy Gonzales will serve as the interim coach for Saturday’s game against Georgia. The question is who will take over the job permanently.

At this point, there are six primary candidates for the position. Whoever assumes the role will face the challenge — and opportunity — of maximizing the roster’s talent to restore the program to the glory it enjoyed nearly two decades ago under Urban Meyer.

For those interested in wagering on the Gators’ next permanent head coach, one platform allows you to place real money on the outcome in all 50 states. That platform is Kalshi, which blends traditional financial markets with innovative prediction-based systems.

Lane Kiffin leads the market. The Ole Miss coach has ties to the state as he spent three seasons at Florida Atlantic University and won two Conference USA titles.

Kiffin has turned Ole Miss into one of the SEC’s most consistent programs. While it’s unclear whether he would actually leave Oxford, the Rebels’ strong season and LSU’s reported interest in him following the firing of Brian Kelly add uncertainty to his potential move to Florida.

Coming in second is Jedd Fisch, head coach at the University of Washington. As an assistant, Fisch has worked for seven NFL teams and four college programs since 2002, and, as head coach, he helped rebuild the Arizona Wildcats before taking the job at Washington.

In third place is Eliah Drinkwitz. The Missouri coach is known for his offensive approach and strong recruiting acumen. Although he’s found success with the Tigers, if his goal is to win a national championship, he may look for a move to a higher-profile program, like Florida.

Further down the list is James Franklin, the former Penn State coach. He’s among the names being discussed, though there’s also speculation linking him to Virginia Tech, where he could try to revive a struggling program.

Two other candidates have emerged more recently: Lincoln Riley, head coach of the USC Trojans, and Jeff Brohm, head coach at the University of Louisville.

What is Kalshi?

Different than a traditional sportsbook and available in all 50 states, Kalshi allows users to make predictions across several unique markets, including sports, entertainment, elections and even weather.

Kalshi operates on a contract-based system where users buy "contracts" (priced between 1–99 cents) based on whether they believe a specific event will happen. The price of each contract fluctuates in real time based on market sentiment and like the stock market, traders can sell positions early to lock in profits (or minimize losses).
