Boise State Broncos Odds & Betting Guide — 2026 Season
Boise State enters a new conference as a heavy favorite to win it, and it will do so without knowing who it plays in the final week of the regular season. Both facts matter more than they sound.
Where Boise State stands
The Broncos went 9-5 last season with a 6-2 conference mark, beat UNLV 38-21 to claim a third straight Mountain West title, then lost the LA Bowl to Washington 38-10. That counted as a disappointment only because of what preceded it: a 12-2 campaign in 2024 that produced a No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.
Spencer Danielson enters year three at 24-8 overall, and the conference number is the striking one. He is 19-2 in league play and has won a conference championship in every season he has led the program, including the stretch he finished as interim in 2023.
That fits a longer pattern. Boise State has won nine or more regular-season games 20 times in the past 27 years under six different head coaches.
Maddux Madsen returns for a fifth season in the program with a 20-6 record as a starter and 2,334 passing yards last year. Running back Dylan Riley is back after taking over the starting job as a relative unknown, having entered 2025 with 22 career carries. Six starters return on offense.
The defense is the concern. That unit was ordinary last season and returns only four starters. Erik Chinander stays on as coordinator with Terrence Brown added as co-coordinator, and Zak Hill joins Nate Potter on the offensive side. Boise State also signed the highest-rated recruiting class in program history and added double-digit portal pieces, though it lost receiver Chris Marshall to Arkansas and safety Ty Benefield to LSU.
The Pac-12 move changes less than it appears
Boise State left the Mountain West on July 1 for the rebuilt Pac-12, its fourth conference home since moving to the FBS in 1996 after stints in the Big West and WAC.
Read the membership carefully before assuming this is a step up. The eight-team league consists of Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State, all arriving from the Mountain West, plus holdovers Oregon State and Washington State and Texas State from the Sun Belt. Five of the Broncos' seven conference opponents are the same programs they went 19-2 against under Danielson. Only Oregon State, Washington State and Texas State represent genuinely new competition, and none of those three has been near the top of the sport recently.
The talent gap in the league is wide. Athlon ranks Boise State 24th nationally with the next Pac-12 team at 67th. Lindy's has the Broncos 29th and San Diego State 73rd. Phil Steele is the most conservative and still separates Boise State at 23rd from Fresno State at 35th. Checking the full conference field is worth doing here, because this is the rare case where realignment changed the name on the trophy without much changing who is competing for it.
Boise State 2026 futures odds
The Broncos opened at +154 to win the Pac-12 and have since drifted to around +170, well clear of San Diego State in the +360 to +470 range, Texas State at +550, Fresno State and Washington State between +650 and +800, Utah State at +1100, Oregon State at +3000 and Colorado State at +4000. Boise State sits at +450 to reach the College Football Playoff, which makes it the Group of Six favorite ahead of Army, Memphis, UNLV and UTSA at +1000. ESPN's preseason FPI ranks the Broncos 50th nationally, best among Group of Six programs, with a projected win total of 7.8.
The flex week complicates every season-long bet. The Pac-12 has reserved the final week of the regular season for flexible scheduling, matching teams late in an attempt to build a College Football Playoff résumé for its best contender. Those games do not count toward conference standings. Boise State has 11 confirmed opponents and a 12th to be determined.
That means anyone betting a Boise State win total is wagering on a schedule that is one game incomplete, and the missing game is specifically designed to be difficult if the Broncos are contending. A team playing well gets a harder Week 13 assignment than a team that is not. Price that into the over.
The case against the title price is the defense. Losing all but four starters from a unit that was already unexceptional is the clearest path to an upset in a conference where the gap should otherwise be decisive.
Season-long markets also trade on prediction markets, where pricing can drift from the sportsbook line. A Polymarket referral code or a DraftKings Predictions promo code gets you started, and our guide to the best prediction market apps covers how each handles college football. Betting Boise State point spreads
A point spread bet turns on margin of victory rather than who wins.
Take the Sept. 5 opener at No. 2 Oregon, where Boise State opened as a 24.5-point underdog. These are illustrative prices, so pull live college football odds for the real number:
- Boise State +24.5 (-110)
- Oregon -24.5 (-110)
Boise State covers by losing by 24 or fewer, or by winning outright. Oregon covers by winning by 25 or more. The -110 on each side is the vig: risk $1.10 to win $1.
The Broncos angle: Boise State will be laying points in most conference games, often heavily, against a field that ranks 40 to 50 spots below it in preseason evaluations. Large favorites in mismatched conferences are a specific handicapping problem, because the number has to account for both the talent gap and the reality that blowouts produce garbage-time scoring and early substitutions.
The blue turf matters too. Danielson's 19-2 conference record was built substantially at Albertsons Stadium, and his two league losses came on the road, including a 17-7 defeat at San Diego State in poor weather. Track how the Broncos handle large numbers through the against the spread standings, since covering as a two-touchdown favorite is a different skill from winning.
Betting Boise State totals
An over/under asks whether the combined final score lands above or below the posted number. At 52.5, a 31-24 final goes over and a 27-24 final stays under.
- Over 52.5 (-110)
- Under 52.5 (-110)
The scheduling quirk worth exploiting: nine of Boise State's 11 confirmed games kick at 6 p.m. Eastern or later, and four start at 9:30 p.m. Eastern or later. South Dakota on Sept. 19 and Texas State on Oct. 31 both begin at 10 p.m. Eastern, the trip to Fresno State on Oct. 10 starts at 10:30, and San Diego State visits on Nov. 21 at 9:30.
Late-window games draw thinner action than afternoon kicks. Markets open later, move on smaller amounts of money, and books disagree with each other more. For a team whose games will mostly be played after most of the country has stopped watching, that produces more line movement between open and close than a Saturday afternoon Power Four total would. Public betting data helps you read those spots, since it separates the share of tickets from the share of dollars.
Our analysts work the same angles in weekly college football picks.
Betting the Boise State moneyline
A moneyline bet is a bet on who wins outright. Margin is irrelevant.
An illustrative conference price:
- Boise State -450
- Opponent +340
Convert to implied probability and the margin shows. Boise State at -450 breaks even around 81.8%; the opponent at +340 breaks even around 22.7%. Those sum past 100%, and the excess is the sportsbook's cut.
On payouts, $10 on Boise State at -450 returns $12.22 for a $2.22 profit. The same $10 at +340 returns $44 for a $34 profit. An odds calculator handles any price.
Short prices like these are where the "bad value" misconception does the most damage. Laying -450 means you risk more to win less and need to be right roughly 82% of the time. Danielson has won 90% of his conference games, so the question is not whether the price looks unattractive but whether 81.8% sits above or below Boise State's real chance in that specific matchup. Against Colorado State it probably sits below. Against San Diego State it probably does not.
A bet365 bonus code gets you a second price to compare, and we track college football betting promos as they change.
Boise State player props
College prop markets aren't offered in every legal state, so availability varies even where you can bet the game.
Madsen is the steadiest quarterback prop in the conference and the most likely to be mispriced downward. He threw for 2,334 yards last season, a modest figure that reflects Boise State's run-first identity rather than any limitation. A fifth-year starter with a 20-6 record in a system he knows completely is about as predictable as college quarterback props get.
The volume question is the blowout risk. A team favored by three or four touchdowns in most conference games pulls its starters early, which caps passing yardage even when the offense is efficient. Watch for that pattern before backing overs on his lines.
Riley's rushing props carry the same tension in reverse. A dominant team in a weak conference produces heavy fourth-quarter run volume, but often with backups on the field. Team rushing totals may be a cleaner way to express the view than any individual line.
