Prairie View A&M Panthers Betting Preview
Prairie View’s defense has improved immensely in Year 1 under Tremaine Jackson, vaulting the Panthers into the SWAC Championship. Jackson was named SWAC Coach of the Year.
They’ve stifled everyone, allowing only 270 yards and 16 points per game.
Travor Randle leads the way with 84 tackles, but five other Panthers have at least 50 on a defense that doesn’t allow rush explosives.
The Panthers have been elite on third down and in the red zone, holding seven of their past eight opponents to 13 points or fewer.
The defense is nasty, and they’ll show up in the SWAC title game.
The Panthers' offense has found its rhythm over the past few weeks, scoring 48 or more in three straight. Quarterback Cameron Peters has been very efficient, throwing for over 250 yards per game with 18 touchdowns, while adding nearly 400 rushing yards.
The offensive line has impressed in league play, and I expect Prairie View to establish the run against the Tigers.
Jackson State Tigers Betting Preview
Jackson State is the cream of the crop in the SWAC, and the Tigers once again dominated the regular season.
The rush-heavy offense can light up the scoreboard, but the health of quarterback JaCobian Morgan is still a question, as he’s been sidelined with an injury.
Backup quarterback Jared Lockhart has done well in relief of Morgan, but the offense isn’t quite as dynamic.
Regardless, I expect the Tigers to line up and run the football on Saturday, but I’m uncertain if they’ll push around the Panthers’ stout defensive front.
Jackson State’s defense is one of the best in the SWAC, as the Tigers typically control the line of scrimmage. The unit has allowed just 18 points and 318 yards per game.
The defense isn’t overly aggressive, but they play sound assignment football, forcing the opponent into unfavorable down-and-distance situations.

I like the Under.
Both defenses are nasty and should control the pace. Both offenses want to establish the run, but both defenses are elite at stopping it.
Morgan being out is also a factor, as Jackson State’s offense isn’t as explosive without him. Plus, the Prairie View secondary has been lights out this season against the pass.
Both defenses have been elite in the red zone, and neither offense has been efficient in scoring position. I expect methodical drives to end in field goals.
The weather could also be a factor, as we’re expecting heavy rain.
Ultimately, I’m banking on a quicker-moving clock and wouldn’t be surprised if the winning team scores in the low 20s.
