Do you remember the night of September 21st? One woman from New York will never forget the date of last Sunday.

She was playing Ultimate Texas Hold'em Poker at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City and hit a Royal Flush on the All-In Table Games Progressive Jackpot, which is similar to the big prizes you can win on slot machines.

When it was all said and done, the unidentified woman took home $759,128 from the casino.

This jackpot win is notable for its size and the game on which it was won. Unfortunately, we do not know which poker strategy she used.

This big win is similar to the 7-card straight flush that landed a big jackpot at South Point Casino back in February. It's also reminiscent of the  unbelievable Pai Gow Poker win someone pulled off on Star Wars Day.

How do All-In Table Games Progressive Jackpots Work?

An All-In Table Games Progressive Jackpot is typically triggered by a specific rare event or winning hand that occurs in the table game, such as hitting a Royal Flush in poker variants.

An All-In Table Games Progressive Jackpot is usually won when a player gets an exceptionally rare winning hand during a game. For example, in poker games, hitting a Royal Flush can trigger this kind of jackpot.

Here's how an All-In Table Games Progressive Jackpot works:

  • This jackpot is like a big pot of prize money that keeps growing as people play and bet on certain games.
  • Every time someone makes a bet, a tiny part of that bet goes into the jackpot, so it steadily increases.
  • It grows until someone gets a rare and specific winning hand, such as a Royal Flush, which hits the jackpot.
  • To try for this jackpot, players usually have to make an extra bet or play at a certain level.
  • Once someone wins the jackpot, it resets to a set amount and builds up again as more people play.

In this case, the woman hit the rare hand while playing poker, winning the jackpot that had built up to almost $760,000 thanks to many players betting over time. Winning such a large prize from a card game adds to the fun and excitement, drawing more people to try their luck.

How Rare is a Royal Flush in Poker?

In Ultimate Texas Hold'em Poker, getting a royal flush—which is the best possible poker hand. If you check your poker glossary, you'll find that it consists of a sequence from ten to ace, all in the same suit—is extremely rare.

a woman at the Kansas Star Casino turned a $5 bet into a monumental progressive jackpot win of $348,247.

However, it's slightly easier to get one in this version of poker compared to the classic five-card poker game. This is because players use seven cards in Texas Hold'em (two personal cards and five shared community cards) rather than just five.

The chance of getting a royal flush in Ultimate Texas Hold'em is about 0.0032%.

This means that, on average, a royal flush happens once in every 30,940 hands dealt. While that's still pretty uncommon, it's about 20 times more likely to happen than in traditional five-card draw poker, where the odds are about 649,739-to-1 against getting a royal flush.
