Ahead of the start of the 2026 NFL season, ActionNetwork.com has analyzed over 2.5 million fan comments from the subreddits of all 32 NFL clubs to find out which fandoms are the most polite and, on the contrary, which fandoms are the most foul-mouthed. Additionally, the analysis also uncovered which NFL fandoms are the most positive and which fans are the most negative.

Highlights

  • New York Giants were found to be the most foul-mouthed NFL fandom, with 14.98% of their comments containing swear words, ahead of Indianapolis Colts (14.88% of comments including swear words) and Cleveland Browns (14.72% of comments including swear words).
  • Indianapolis Colts came out as the most negative NFL fandom, with 26.32% of their comments carrying a negative tone, ahead of New York Jets (25.76% of comments carrying a negative tone) and Cincinnati Bengals (25.63% of comments carrying a negative tone).
  • On the other hand, Tampa Bay Buccaneers were found to be the most positive NFL fandom, with 51.71% of their comments carrying a positive tone, ahead of Arizona Cardinals (51.11% of comments carrying a positive tone) and Denver Broncos (50.75% of comments carrying a positive tone).
  • Buffalo Bills turned out to be the most polite NFL fandom, with only 10.70% of their comments containing swear words, ahead of Los Angeles Rams (10.98% of comments including swear words) and Green Bay Packers (10.98% of comments including swear words).

You can see the results of all analyzed NFL clubs in the interactive table below.

The Most Foul-Mouthed NFL Fandoms

At first, a sample of comments from the subreddits of all 32 NFL clubs was collected, tracking the period between August 2025 and September 2026, and it was subsequently analyzed how many of their comments included swear words.

According to the results of the analysis, the New York Giants fandom was found to be the most foul-mouthed, since 14.98% of the comments on their subreddit included swear words.

Indianapolis Colts turned out to be the second most foul-mouthed fandom, with 14.88% of their comments including swear words, followed by Cleveland Browns in third place at 14.72%

Rounding out the top five, Arizona Cardinals (14.48% comments including swear words) and New York Jets (14.34% including swear words) completed the list.

The Most Negative NFL Fandoms

Every comment collected was also run through a sentiment analysis tool, which classified it as positive, negative or neutral, allowing each fandom to be ranked by the share of its comments that fell into each category.

Indianapolis Colts were found to be the most negative NFL fandom, with 26.32% of their comments carrying a negative tone.

New York Jets ranked second, with 25.76% of their comments classified as negative, followed by Cincinnati Bengals in third place at 25.63%

Cleveland Browns (25.58% negative comments) and Dallas Cowboys (25.42% negative comments) rounded out the top five most negative fandoms, respectively.

The Most Positive NFL Fandoms

On the other hand, Tampa Bay Buccaneers were found to be the most positive NFL fandom, with 51.71% of their comments carrying a positive tone.

Arizona Cardinals followed in second place with 51.11% positive comments, with Denver Broncos close behind in third at 50.75% positive comments.

Kansas City Chiefs (50.60% positive comments) and Tennessee Titans (50.13% positive comments) completed the top five most positive fandoms.

The Most Polite NFL Fandoms

On the other end of the profanity scale, Buffalo Bills were found to be the most polite NFL fandom, with only 10.70% of their comments including swear words.

Los Angeles Rams followed as the second most polite fandom with only 10.98% of their fan comments including profanities, with Green Bay Packers close behind in third place (also 10.98% of comments included swear words).

Seattle Seahawks (11.09% of comments included swear words) and Denver Broncos (11.11% of comments included swear words) completed the top five most polite fandoms.

How This Season Compares to Last Year

The same analysis was run last year, and the 2025 season had crowned Indianapolis Colts as the most foul-mouthed fandom outright, but this year they've been overtaken at the top by New York Giants

On the sentiment side, the Colts have swapped places with Cincinnati Bengals too, moving from third to first as the most negative fandom while the Bengals slip to third.

The most positive fandoms, however, have stayed consistent: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos occupy the same top three positions as last year, though all three fandoms' positive shares have eased slightly.

On the polite side, Los Angeles Chargers topped last year's rankings, but have been overtaken this year by the Buffalo Bills.
