Detroit Lions Betting Preview: Defensive Woes

The Lions are in a tough scheduling spot coming off a loss on Sunday Night Football.

Head coach Dan Campbell's reckless analytical decision making is actively costing them games — taking points off the board by going for it on 4th and 2 while down 13 points last week is mathematically silly and indefensible.

Jared Goff and the Lions offense continues to put up points, and they're going to need to continue doing that all season because the defense is ghastly. They can't stop anything, surrendering 445 yards to Carolina on SNF.

Arizona Cardinals Betting Preview: Prime Spot to Buy the Cards

The Cardinals have come crashing back down to earth after their Week 1 upset over the Chargers as losers of three straight games, but I think they are live underdogs in this spot.

Jacoby Brissett provides a solid floor at quarterback, and the connection with Trey McBride is consistent enough to exploit broken defenses.

And speaking of broken defenses, Arizona gets to take a crack at Detroit's listless unit. The Lions, of course, surrendered 32 points to the Panthers on Sunday Night Football. Bryce Young went off 329 yards and two touchdowns while Chuba Hubbard rumbled for 122 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

The Cardinals have a number of weapons at their disposal — McBride, Michael Wilson, Jeremiyah Love, Tyler Allgeier — so they should be able to put up a big number in this spot. Marvin Harrison Jr. will reportedly be inactive for this game, but that doesn't move the needle much for me.

Lions vs Cardinals Prediction, Betting Analysis

The Lions' defense is incapable of getting stops — they've given up more than 30 points in every game except one this season.

Given what we've seen from that unit, it's hard to imagine the Cardinals not being able to match the Lions score for score. There's also a decent chance Dan Campbell's poor game management leaves the door wide open for an outright upset at home.

I am backing the Cardinals on the moneyline as my underdog pick of the week.

Pick: Cardinals Moneyline (+194)
