Sunday sees the Minnesota Vikings travel to Detroit to face the Lions in one of this weekend's most interesting games. The 10-2 Vikings opened as favorites but are now underdogs to the Lions to sit under .500 at 5-7.

It's not often that a team with a losing record is favorite to a team with such a strong record and no QB injury, which adds an element of excitement to this matchup.

Our best bet for today features one of the most celebrated players on the field. Read on for our Lions vs Vikings pick for NFL Week 14.

As mentioned above, the 10-2 Vikings are underdogs here and perhaps with good reason. As impressive as their record is, it feels like they've had more than their fair share of luck on the way and might not be quite as good as the record suggests.

The Vikings offense revolves around Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook, both of whom will fancy their chances here, yet the reality is that this is a defensive battle. The Vikings have allowed fewer points than anybody in the division, with 279, compared to the Lions 324. However, in the last three games the Lions have only allowed 19 points and across five weeks they have the sixth best DVOA defense.

The defenses will be key to this one, and Dan Campbell, who was surprised at being favorites, has stated that their Week 3 loss to the Vikings will burn him until he dies, with his players also echoing a desire for revenge.

The Lions offense has seen Jared Goff play the best football of his career in recent weeks and with D'Andre Swift and Amon-Ra St Brown they have two big playmakers. We're also likely to see an expanded role for Jameson Williams this week, who made his debut last Sunday.

Betting Picks

This hasn't been Dalvin Cook's best season as a Viking, but he's still putting up good numbers, he's just 73 yards from breaking the 1,000 rushing yard barrier and ranks fifth across the league in rushing yards this year.

He's -115 to find the end zone on Sunday, which looks like value given that this defense, despite improving over the past month, have still allowed 149.7 rushing yards per game, fifth most in the league, and have given up 12 rushing touchdowns to running backs, an average of one per game.

Pick: Dalvin Cook Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-115)
