Ohio State pass rusher Arvell Reese is emerging as the heavy favorite for the New York Jets' No. 2 overall pick, with prediction markets on Kalshi showing sustained momentum building around the All-American linebacker despite limited current market activity on the specific outcome.

The market signals align with growing buzz from NFL personnel, as multiple sources indicate Reese has separated himself from other top prospects following an impressive NFL Combine performance. The Ohio State defender ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at 241 pounds while displaying exceptional agility, metrics that appear to have convinced Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey he's their target.

2026 NFL Draft Odds: Top 10 Picks

Odds are via Kalshi and update every hour.

Reese was stellar through the first half of Ohio State's season, but a reduced pass-rush role in the final few games led to a bit of a disappearing act. New York taking another Ohio State one-year defensive wonder with workout warrior traits might induce some PTSD after Vernon Gholston busted so hard for them. However, Reese has more versatility and functional athleticism beyond what the combine tests.

Draft analyst Dane Brugler's latest mock draft continues projecting Reese to New York at No. 2 overall, reinforcing the growing consensus around the pairing. An NFL scout recently "swooned" over Reese's tape and combine performance, according to The Jet Press, suggesting professional evaluators are reaching similar conclusions about his NFL readiness.

The convergence of positive scouting reports, combine metrics, and mock draft projections creates a compelling case for Reese despite the inherent uncertainty in projecting college linebackers to NFL pass-rushing roles. His unique combination of size, speed, and versatility addresses the Jets' need for edge pressure while maintaining run-stopping ability.

Meanwhile, David Bailey remains one of the players I'm most skeptical on why he's projected so high. While a gifted pass-rusher with his speed, his thin lower body and lack of strength against the run projects in a much riskier manner. He's not someone who will land in my top 10 overall big board, so I might be way off on the value of such a player. Jermaine Johnson is someone that Jets fans can think about with Bailey and understand the challenges Bailey will face.

With the draft approaching, all indicators point toward Reese as the Jets' likely selection, though the team maintains their typical pre-draft secrecy about final decisions.

What is Kalshi?

Different than a traditional sportsbook and available in most states, Kalshi allows users to make predictions across several unique markets, including sports, entertainment, elections, and even weather.

Kalshi operates on a contract-based system where users buy "contracts" (priced between 1–99 cents) based on whether they believe a specific event will happen. The price of each contract fluctuates in real time based on market sentiment, and like the stock market, traders can sell positions early to lock in profits (or minimize losses).
