Panthers vs Falcons Player Props: Eddy Pineiro Pick for NFL Week 8

After trading away Christian McCaffery and Robbie Anderson, the Carolina Panthers shocked the world in a triumphant win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. They now look to carry much needed momentum against their division-rival Atlanta Falcons.

The schedule makers finally gave the Panthers a breather after facing three consecutive NFL teams (49ers, Rams, and Buccaneers) who all fall inside the top 10 in Football Outsiders’ defensive DVOA rankings. Thankfully in Week 8, that changes since the matchup is against the 32nd-ranked defense according to DVOA.

Throughout the season, opponents have found success moving the ball down the field against the Falcons, with Football Outsiders ranking the team 26th in net drive success rate. Joe Burrow just torched this defense with three touchdowns and extra points made in the first half! They are missing key pieces in their defenses, with both No. 1 and No. 2 cornerbacks A.J. Terrell and Casey Hayward ruled out.

Kickers are thriving in this prop against Atlanta. The Falcons are ranked fourth in allowing an average of 2.43 extra points, including five of the seven kickers to attempt at least two extra points. Pineiro has drilled 19 of his last 20 extra-point kicks since 2021.

This feels like a buy low more than anything with the Panthers and oddsmakers agrees. Sportsbooks have their total touchdown prop at 1.5 with -200 odds and their team total set at 18.5 points. Unless the Panthers attempt a 2-point conversion, this prop is a slam dunk and playable up to -130 on all sportsbooks. I see this as the best alternative but for a lower price.
