Democrat Amy Acton is leading Kalshi's Ohio Governor Margin of Victory market by 4.7% as midterm elections rapidly approach nationwide.

With Republican governor Mike DeWine nearing the end of his term, Acton and Republican Vivek Ramaswamy are in contention to lead the state. Traders had predicted Ramaswamy to win the election by as much as 3.2% over the first couple of months of campaigning, giving him a consistent lead on Kalshi.

However, Acton — the former director for the Ohio Department of Health — has fought back on the campaign trail, nourishing a slim September 12 lead into a sizable 4.7% advantage. Acton peaked with a 5.7% advantage on October 24, and with only days to go, traders forecast that Acton will maintain momentum.

Ohio Governor Race: Amy Acton Gaining in Projections

Ramaswamy has lost ground on Kalshi over the past two months, and his most recent mistake threatens to put him out of contention entirely. The Republican candidate spent $4 million on an attack advertisement which featured Acton's mother, Donna Arthur, warning Ohioan voters about her daughter. This strategy has proven to be a complete misfire, and the ad has since been dropped.

Acton, a physician, has strengthened her campaign focusing on taxes and education. The Democratic candidate has proposed refundable tax credits for working families and property-tax relief. Additionally, she supports Ohio’s Fair School Funding Plan and looks to reform the voucher system.

Ramaswamy has spent his campaign responding to the same issues. The Republican candidate seeks to return property tax rates to pre-pandemic levels, and wants to spend the next decade phasing out Ohio’s income tax. Additionally, Ramaswamy is calling for higher academic standards, increased parental choice and transparency, and expanded career-tech education. He's sinking alongside the Trump administration.
