Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid
This match sees two of the most talented attacking teams in Europe go toe-to-toe, so it promises to be a goal-laden affair.
Real Madrid’s Champions League matches have averaged 3.58 goals per game, with Los Blancos scoring 2.42 per game. They have scored in all six of their home matches in this competition this season, averaging 2.5 goals per game, but kept just two clean sheets during that run.
Meanwhile, Bayern are averaging 3.2 goals per game in the Champions League this season, more than any other side. Their matches in this competition have averaged 4.2 goals per game.
This bet has won in two of the last three competitive meetings between these sides (excluding extra time). Both teams have scored in the last six competitive meetings, and the Bayern attack is more dangerous now than at any point in the last decade, so we should see even more goals.
Pick: Over 3.5 Goals
Arsenal vs. Sporting Clube de Portugal
Sporting CP know they need to take a positive result into the second leg at the Emirates, and they have shown plenty of attacking impetus at home. They have scored in all five of their Champions League matches at the Estádio José Alvalade this season, averaging 2.8 goals per game. Both teams have scored in four of those matches.
Arsenal have conceded an average of just 0.5 goals per game in the Champions League. However, they have conceded in four of their last six matches in this competition, including their last two away matches.
When these two met in the 2023/24 Europa League, both teams scored in Lisbon and London, so we are tipping both teams to score.
Pick: Both Teams to Score – Yes
Atletico Madrid vs. FC Barcelona
Goals have been the value angle in the recent H2H matches between Barcelona and Atletico. The last five games have averaged 3.0 goals per game. Five of the last 10 H2H duels played at Camp Nou have seen this bet win.
Barcelona have been the most goal-friendly in the Champions League this season, with their fixtures averaging a staggering 4.70 goals per game, the highest of any remaining team in the competition.
The last match played at this venue failed to cover the bet, with Barcelona winning 3-0. However, Atletico had a 4-0 advantage from the first game and adopted a more passive approach. The stakes are significantly higher this time, and even finding a goal is a positive before their home match. This will be a crucial fixture for the visitors, so expect Diego Simeone’s side to offer more in front of the goal.
Pick: Over 3.5 Goals
Liverpool vs. Paris Saint-Germain
PSG may not have dominated the League Phase as many expected, but their performances in the Knockout Stage are a good indicator of their quality. On the dismantling of Chelsea, we have once again seen improvement from the French, as they managed to keep a clean sheet on their visit to Stamford Bridge.
Luis Enrique knows not to underestimate the Reds, despite their publicly known weaknesses. With home advantage in the first match, the plan should be to secure an edge before their visit to Anfield.
As the most efficient team in front of the goal in this edition of the Champions League, expect an offensive approach from the hosts. Liverpool’s defensive struggles are too big for their attack to make up for, making the home win a value bet.
In their most recent away Champions League game, Liverpool were unlucky in their 1-0 loss to Galatasaray; however, a similar performance won’t be enough to contend with the in-form Parisiens.
