Ahead of the start of the 30th season of The Voice, The Action Network has conducted an analysis of every past season to find out which songs performed during the blind auditions led to the most chair turns by the judges of the singing competition.
Songs With The Most Chair Turns
According to the results of the analysis, which included 1,100+ songs and 1,700+ performances, “Dream a Little Dream of Me” is the #1 song leading to the most chair turns by The Voice judges. In total, the song has earned 15 chair turns across its 5 performances. It was first performed in season 9 by Amy Vachal, who got 3 chair turns, then again in season 14 by Livia Faith (3 turns), in season 17 by Preston C. Howell (4 turns), in season 24 by Julia Roome (2 turns), and most recently in season 27 by Olivia Kuper Harris, who earned 3 chair turns. As a jazz standard first popularized in the 1930s, the song is not credited to a single original artist in the rankings.
Two songs are tied for second place, each having earned 13 chair turns: “A Song for You” by Leon Russell and “Gravity” by John Mayer.
Two more songs round out the top five in a tie for fourth place with 12 chair turns each: “Angel from Montgomery” by John Prine and “Here for the Party” by Gretchen Wilson.
Artists Whose Songs Have Gotten The Most Chair Turns
When looking at the original artists whose songs have gotten the most chair turns across all seasons of The Voice, three artists are tied for the top spot with 39 chair turns each: Adele, Bruno Mars and Sam Smith.
Bob Dylan is right behind them at #4 with 38 chair turns, followed by Fleetwood Mac at #5 with 33 chair turns.

- In total, 1,193 songs and 1,700+ performances from the blind auditions of The Voice (US) were analyzed, using the Wikipedia pages of the competition show as the main source.
- Data span: season 1 through season 29 (2011 – 2026).
- Where a song is a standard, or a song from an opera or a musical, the original artist is not listed.
