What The Odds Mean For Your Next Trip
- The park matters more than the day. A random ride at Epic Universe is over 100 times likelier to eat an hour than a random ride at Carowinds. No amount of rope-dropping closes that gap.
- New rides are the whole line. Mine-Cart Madness, Battle at the Ministry, AlpenFury, Siren's Curse, Wrath of Rakshasa: The top of the leaderboard is dominated by recent openings. Novelty is the strongest single predictor in the data.
- Capacity beats popularity. Pirates and Haunted Mansion are more beloved than most of the worst-odds list and never crossed the line, because they move thousands of people per hour. Hagrid's and Mine-Cart Madness don't.
- Arriving early works, except on the rides where it doesn't. Because our threshold is a full-day average, a ride at 85% means the queue is long from open to close. Those are the ones where the standard advice fails and a paid line-skip actually pencils out.
- International parks are not the easy mode you think. Tokyo DisneySea, Universal Studios Japan and Shanghai Disneyland all rank top five worst.
- If you want the hour back, go to Hollywood. Universal Studios Hollywood runs the same headline IP as Orlando at a fraction of the wait risk.

Methodology
We analyzed queue-times.com historical wait times (Jan 1–Jul 31, 2026) across 49 major theme parks, covering 1,207 rides and 135,000 ride-days across 151,157 individual data points.
For each ride-day, we calculated a duration-weighted average wait time. A ride met the 60+ minute threshold only if its full-day weighted average exceeded an hour- momentary spikes were excluded. Daily probabilities were converted into American sports betting moneylines.
The overall 7.0% rate reflects the raw share of all ride-days in the dataset, not an average of park averages. Data is for entertainment purposes only and based on historical reports, not live queues.
