Novig has rebuilt its loyalty program following the operator's CFTC approval, Novig Points now rewards members for executed trading activity, moving them through five monthly tiers that unlock trade credits, deposit matches, share slips, and a share of a monthly cash pool.

The program is voluntary and requires you to opt in before you earn anything. Below, we break down how the current version works and what's still to be confirmed.

If you haven't signed up for Novig yet, be sure to do so via the Novig promo code so you can get an extra bonus in addition to earning Novig Points.

How the Novig Points Program Works

Novig Points operates within a monthly cycle. You opt in, earn Points on executed trades, and your Point total determines your tier for that month.

Check out the core mechanics:

  • Opt-in required: Members who haven't opted in through the Novig app or website earn no Points and hold no tier status.
  • Monthly periods: Each cycle runs from 6:00 a.m. ET on the first day of the month to 5:59 a.m. ET on the first day of the following month.
  • Points reset: Point totals used for tier qualification reset to zero at the start of each new monthly period and do not carry forward.
  • Executed trades only: Points accrue on executed trades. Trades placed through programmatic or automated means do not earn Points.
  • No cash value: Points exist only to set your tier. They can't be transferred, redeemed for cash, or withdrawn.

How to Earn Novig Points

Novig awards Points through four mechanisms:

  1. Combination contracts: Executed trades in combination contracts at prices within an eligible range.
  2. Maker fills: Executed trades where your resting order is matched on the order book at prices within an eligible range.
  3. Daily challenges: Completion of trading objectives made available on a daily or recurring basis.
  4. Monthly challenges: Completion of trading objectives made available once per month.

The number of Points awarded under each mechanism, the eligible markets and price ranges, and the specific challenge objectives are published by Novig before the start of each monthly period. That means the rates can change month to month, so check the current notice in-app before building a strategy around any one mechanism.

Novig Points Tiers and Rewards

The program runs five tiers: Starter, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Obsidian. New participants begin at Starter and can climb as they hit each Point threshold during their first month.

Crossing a tier can unlock:

  • Reward Credits: Trade credits and deposit matches, usable for trading on or depositing to the exchange. They can't be transferred, cashed out, or deployed through automated trading.
  • Share slips: Non-cash, custom slips for showing off your trades.
  • Monthly Pool share: A cash prize funded by the exchange.

One important distinction: cash prizes are not unlocked when you cross a tier. The Monthly Pool is allocated after the month closes, based on the highest tier you reached during that period, with higher tiers receiving larger prizes. Those distributions are credited to your exchange account as cash and are withdrawable.

Tier thresholds, the rewards attached to each tier, and the size of the Monthly Pool are all announced by Novig ahead of each monthly period.

Action Network's Novig Points Recommendations

The program is new in this form, so the smartest approach is a conservative one:

  1. Opt in first: No opt-in, no Points. And if Novig publishes updated program terms, your old enrollment doesn't carry over, so you'll need to opt in again to keep earning.
  2. Read the monthly notice: Point values, eligible price ranges, and tier thresholds are set month to month. Reviewing them at the start of the cycle tells you which mechanism is worth your volume.
  3. Prioritize maker fills: Resting orders that get matched earn Points and generally get you a better price than crossing the spread.
  4. Don't force bad trades: Points have no cash value on their own, and chasing a challenge into a market you don't know is a fast way to give back more than the reward is worth.
  5. Use credits before they lapse: Each type of Reward Credit carries its own claiming window and usage period. Anything unclaimed or unused inside that window is forfeited.
