After morning-line favorite Omaha Beach was scratched heading into the 2019 Kentucky Derby, many people assumed that either Game Winner or Roadster would close as the post-time favorite for the most exciting two minutes in sports.
In fact, it was Bob Baffert’s third entrant, Improbable, who closed as the post time favorite for the Derby at odds of 4-1. Improbable is one of four Kentucky Derby runners returning for the Preakness Stakes, alongside Bodexpress, War of Will, and Win Win Win, and he opened as the 5-2 morning line favorite for Saturday’s race.
The Derby returnees will be met by nine new shooters in Baltimore including the local hope, the Maryland bred Alwaysmining, who has won six straight starts at Laurel Park.
War of Will, the second choice on the morning line, managed to draw the rail for the second straight Triple Crown race.
The post time for the Preakness Stakes is 6:48 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 18, with coverage beginning on NBC at 5 p.m. ET.
