Rockies vs Diamondbacks MLB Betting Preview
Editor’s Note: This written pick is a transcription from today’s episode of the Payoff Pitch Podcast.
The Snakes are playing good ball right now. I think they’re starting to trend up, though I wish the starting pitching were a little better. Still, this is a potential Wild Card squad.
At the same time, the Rockies have started to taper off after their hot start. Their bullpen is just so bad, and also more strained than the Diamondbacks bullpen.
Tomoyuki Sugano has been okay, but I still don’t project him as a viable long-term option — I power rate him as SP No. 149 out of 160. I think he’ll struggle against Arizona’s patient lineup.
Additionally, Arizona is due for some breakouts, like Lourdes Gurriel Jr. The Diamondbacks have Gabriel Moreno batting seventh! This is a very deep lineup that takes a lot of pitches and draws plenty of walks.
Throw in the massive starting pitching edge and solid bullpen (I really like Paul Sewald), and I’m all over the Snakes on Friday.
Pick: Diamondbacks ML (-200 or Better)
