Angels vs Mariners MLB Betting Preview
Editor’s Note: This written pick is a transcription from today’s episode of the Payoff Pitch Podcast.
I make the Mariners ML around -200 in this matchup.
Jose Soriano had a really good April and a decent May, but he’s fallen off dramatically in June, posting just 24 strikeouts to 17 walks across 23 ⅔ innings.
The walks could be a huge problem against a very patient Seattle lineup. The M’s aren’t hitting quite yet, but they continue to get guys on base, and they have plenty of power. I also prefer this offense to the Angels, given the Mariners have a better process.
Bryan Woo is pitching better lately, while Soriano is pitching worse, and there’s a pretty big gap between these starting pitchers. I have Woo as my SP No. 25, and Soriano as my SP No. 88. Basically, Woo is a borderline SP1, while Soriano is a closer to league-average SP.
It’s also worth mentioning the Mariners have the better bullpen.
Pick: Mariners ML (-185 or Better)
