New York Yankees vs Texas Rangers MLB Preview
This game triggered one of our Action Labs PRO Betting Systems, powered by our guy Evan Abrams.
Contrarian Unders for Winning Teams (Later in Series) targets Unders in Games 2, 3, or 4 of a series where both teams have winning records, suggesting quality pitching and competitive matchups.
However, public betting leans toward the Over, likely expecting fireworks between two top teams, which creates contrarian value on the Under.
Aaron Judge's return to the Yankees on Wednesday will help boost their recently sluggish offense.
Still, I’m quite high on Rangers starting pitcher Jack Leiter, who has some command problems (12% walk rate) but has elite stuff (109 Stuff+, 119 Stuff+ on fastball).
Meanwhile, Carlos Rodon boasts high-end earned run indicators (3.34 ERA, 3.24 xERA, 3.88 FIP, 3.68 xFIP), and I think he’s due for a bounce-back performance after a string of tough starts (4.64 ERA over the past six).
Perhaps more importantly, I don’t trust the Rangers against left-handed pitchers, as they’ve posted MLB’s fourth-lowest wRC+ against the side (77).
New York made some big-time bullpen acquisitions at the deadline (David Bednar, Camilo Doval), boosting the Yankees’ back-end pitching.
Meanwhile, the Rangers’ bullpen has been running well (4.06 xFIP over the past month, 10th).
I’m banking on high-end pitching for nine innings from both squads, and betting another contrarian Under between two winning teams.
