Giants vs Braves MLB Betting Preview

Adrian Houser has been one of the least reliable starting pitchers in baseball this season. I’ve enjoyed fading him as much as possible.

His arsenal sucks. He has an 89 Stuff+ rating. He also has very significant splits in his career (5.09 xFIP/.366 wOBA vs. LHPs, 3.79 xFIP/.279 wOBA vs. RHPs).

That’s significant for today, considering the Braves could have six lefties in their lineup today between Matt Olson, Drake Baldwin, Michael Harris, Dom Smith, Mike Yastrzemski, and the switch-hitting Ozzie Albies.

Grant Holmes isn’t a very good starter, but he’s got a decent slider. He gives the Braves MLB-average starts most nights, which is good enough for Atlanta to win nine of his 14 starts so far, given they have an elite bullpen and have been red-hot in the batter’s box.

Meanwhile, the Giants are projected as a bottom-five bullpen, and they are a disaster on defense, especially without Patrick Bailey, who made up a good chunk of their defensive projection behind the plate.

Giants vs Braves Pick, Betting Analysis

Throw in the fact that the Braves are the far-better base-running team, and I really like this matchup for them.
