Texas Rangers Betting Preview: Due for a Clean One

The Rangers made a statement in Game 1 of this series behind another stellar outing by Jacob deGrom, and they are poised to do so again tonight as Nathan Eovaldi takes the mound.

Eovaldi has been plagued by the home run ball early in the season, but outside of that, he's been as good as ever. He enters this start with an xFIP of 3.24 and a CSW of 31%.

Opposing hitters have not touched Eovaldi much, as his swinging strike and whiff rates are elite. It's clear he's due for plenty of positive regression, and this is the matchup where we should see it.

The Mariners have struggled mightily, holding the sixth-highest strikeout rate and the ninth-lowest wRC+ in the majors.

Seattle Mariners Betting Preview: Bats in a Bind

While the Mariners' bats are in a tough spot this evening, their starter, George Kirby, is in line to keep them in the game and match Eovaldi.

Kirby has had success thus far by generating ground balls at a rate we have not seen from him in his young career. This groundball rate, combined with his excellent command, has allowed him to work fast and efficiently through lineups, and the Rangers are not going to be an exception.

We've seen the Rangers' bats do damage when they put the ball in play, but putting it in play is more of a question mark than their results portray. Texas has the fifth-highest strikeout rate and the second-lowest contact rate, trailing only the Mariners.

Rangers vs Mariners Pick, Betting Analysis

Last weekend, the command issues of Charlie Gordon ruined my first under angle. However, with a similar number, we have to go back to the well as the matchup is far better.

Each of these lineups has flaws that should allow each starter to dominate the first few times through the order.

On top of that, the roof is projected to be open tonight at T-Mobile Park, which will make the least-friendly hitting environment in baseball even more unkind.

Take the first five under with confidence.

Pick: F5 Under 4 -115
