Timberwolves vs Rockets NBA Preview
I continue to run into battle every single night screaming that Anthony Edwards is simply not that valuable to the raw point spread. The betting market has massively over-adjusted the Timberwolves' power rating based on his injury.
Yes, the Timberwolves took a tough loss recently, but this roster still has the ability to hang with anyone on both ends of the floor.
The Wolves are incredibly tough on the interior; they possess tremendous defensive versatility, and they are absolutely not a team that will get knocked over from a rebounding perspective.
Even without Edwards, they have enough weapons to keep games highly competitive.
The Rockets are undeniably a good basketball team, but they are always prone to self-sabotage when things are going well. They have a terrible habit of messing around and letting teams hang around.
Houston's rebounding depth is looking very shaky for tonight's contest. Steven Adams is still out with a soleus strain, making Houston's typical offensive rebound advantage more doubtful.
Clint Capela is also listed as questionable, which means their bench could be extremely vulnerable on the glass.
If the Rockets are denied their usual offensive rebounding dominance, it significantly shortens their margin for error and makes it much harder to win by margin.
Timberwolves vs Rockets Pick, Analysis
I simply cannot find any mathematical or situational reason to justify the Rockets laying this many points. My model has this game projected at Houston -3.8.
When both teams are fully healthy, they are very close in my power ratings. Even factoring in Edwards's absence, pushing this line all the way out past eight points is an overreaction.
The Timberwolves have the size and defensive grit to neutralize Houston inside, and the Rockets are dealing with multiple injuries to traditional bigs.
This is just way too many points. I am taking Minnesota +8.5.
Timberwolves vs Rockets Trade: Timberwolves +8.5 (52 cents, Polymarket)
