Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies
by Jim Turvey
In Ty Jerome's first game of the season for the Grizzlies, oddsmakers listed his points line all the way down at over/under 8.5, and he scored 20 points in less than 20 minutes of action against the Timberwolves.
Tonight, Jerome will once again face the Timberwolves. However, books have wisely adjusted his points prop ahead of this contest, currently sitting at OU 12.5 — but it's still not high enough for me.
Jerome is one of those guys who you want to back when he's rolling and desperately want to stay away from him when he's cold.
In his first game back, Jerome posted a 35% usage rate, and while it may be easy to look at that and say, "That's not going to happen again tonight," the Grizzlies are missing a bunch of guys right now with Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, Zach Edey, and Scotty Pippen Jr. all sidelined — while Jaren Jackson is listed as questionable.
If you project this game out, you can get to a 28% usage rate for Jerome pretty easily in this spot. I have him slated for around 15-16 points in tonight's game, depending on how the injury report shakes out.
Pick: Ty Jerome Over 12.5 Points (-115)
76ers vs. Clippers
by Joe Dellera
The 76ers face off against the Clippers in the game of the All-Star Snubs on Monday night.
Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, and James Harden have all put forward All-Star worthy campaigns this season, but barring any replacements, none of them will suit up for the All-Star Game.
Besides any feelings regarding a snub, I like this matchup for Embiid.
The Clippers are on a back-to-back, which is always tough before playing against a dominant big such as Embiid.
Embiid has great history against Zubac, averaging nearly 35 points per game over the course of his career. However, it's been a few years since they faced off against each other.
Embiid has simply been on fire lately. He’s cleared this line in seven straight games.
Additionally, as good as Zubac has been, the Clippers have allowed strong performances to opposing bigs lately, with Jokic, Vucevic, and Sarr all clearing their lines against him. So, I’ll back the big fella for the Sixers tonight.
Pick: Joel Embiid Over 28.5 Points (-118)
