Thunder vs Cavaliers NBA Preview
What's left of the Thunder take on the Cavs in what some expected to be an NBA Finals preview in each of the last two seasons.
That's been beaten out of many this season, given the array of injuries hitting OKC's main characters, along with the seemingly unbreakable glass ceiling atop the Cavs organization in the post-LeBron James era, where they still haven't won a game beyond the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Both teams are 4-2, though with very different outlooks in the immediate future. OKC's are largely injury-based, which we'll get to in the next section.
But since Cleveland's embarrassing opening-night loss to the 76ers, in which they were outscored 69-37 in the second half, they're 4-1, with a road stumble in Atlanta last week, falling 114-111.
OKC looked amazing for four games, then missed three major pieces, and have lost two straight heading into a home-and-home with the Cavs (yes, these two will play again on Wednesday).
On the injury report, OKC is without Jalen Williams (foot), Cason Wallace (shoulder), and Chet Holmgren (knee) for the foreseeable future. Alex Caruso (ankle), Thomas Sorber (knee), and Nikola Topic (back) are also out.
Cleveland has Jaylon Tyson out (ankle) for Monday's contest, with Peyton Watson (hamstring) questionable to play.
Thunder vs Cavaliers Pick, Betting Analysis
Jared McCain will not stop shooting threes, it appears, and although the over on 1.5 makes is heavily juiced for this game, this poses to be a decent bounce-back opportunity with how short-handed OKC is, combined with McCain now in the starting lineup.
McCain has missed 11 straight threes in his most recent two starts, but that won't last forever. In his first start of the year, he went 4-for-7 from deep against Phoenix.
He's 11-for-34 on 3-pointers for the year, but the 34 is more important than the 11 given the role he has to play in this offense.
OKC needs his shooting and will continue to give him opportunities.
Pick: Jared McCain Over 1.5 Three-Pointers (-185, DraftKings)
