  • Friday afternoon, the Lakers announced that LeBron James was questionable tonight against the Pelicans (10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN) with an illness.
  • Following the news, the Lakers fell from -6 to -3, before betting bumped up to -3.5/4. The over/under has also dropped nearly four points since opening.
  • With Anthony Davis also questionable, there are a variety of possible spreads that this game could close at depending on who plays.

Tonight, the Pelicans visit Los Angeles to take on the Lakers. Ticket-holders are holding their collective breath, though, as both Anthony Davis and LeBron James are questionable due to illness.

Davis had left the Pelicans game the other night due to this bug, but did end up returning.

The LeBron news just broke this afternoon, though, and the sudden change in status has caused some significant line movement.

Initial movement dropped the Lakers from -6 to -3, though it moved up to -3.5 shortly afterward. Many other books have moved the line to -4. Be sure to download The Action Network app to follow line moves in real-time and track your bets for tonight's games.

James is seen as the most valuable player in the league to the spread by oddsmakers, which is not too surprising.  His value ranges between five and seven points, which could result in this line dropping down to near a pick'em if he can't play.

Then again, Davis is worth practically as much himself. If Davis can play and LeBron can't, the Pelicans could wind up as favorites. If we switch that around, the Lakers could end up closer to 8-point favorites.

The over/under, which opened up at 234, is down to 230.5. This will surely also swing a bit more depending on who ends up playing.
