Suns vs Thunder NBA Preview

After winning the NBA title last season, the Thunder have been dominant once again, posting a +16.5 point differential, the best through 19 games in NBA history. On Wednesday, they faced their toughest test in three weeks. In a Western Conference Finals rematch, the Timberwolves and Thunder were tied with under four minutes left, but Oklahoma City closed on a 12-4 run to secure a 113-105 victory, its sixth win in clutch time this season.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 40 points, six rebounds, and six assists. The reigning MVP is averaging 32.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game this year. Tonight, he'll also get his running mate back as Jalen Williams is set to make his season debut.

Last season, the 24-year-old Williams averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game while earning his first All-Star and All-NBA honors. However, he may not immediately produce at his usual level. The Thunder will be "patient and cautious" as they reacclimate him into the lineup, and they certainly have the depth to do so.

Following Detroit's loss on Wednesday, Oklahoma City now owns the NBA's longest active winning streak at 10 games. Nearly at full strength (with only Aaron Wiggins out), OKC will be tested tonight as it hosts Phoenix.

The Suns have maintained their surprising start, winning eight of their past 10. Over that stretch, they rank top-10 in offensive rating, defensive rating, and net rating. They enter the night sixth in the Western Conference with a 1.5-game cushion over Minnesota.

Devin Booker has yet to miss a game this season and is averaging 26 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per contest. While Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic have separated as MVP favorites, Booker's 1000-1 odds may be mispriced if the Suns stay firmly in playoff territory.

With Jalen Green limited to just two games, Dillon Brooks has emerged as the team's second-leading scorer at 21.3 points per game while setting the tone defensively. He'll likely draw the Gilgeous-Alexander assignment tonight, but he's averaging 3.5 fouls per game, so staying out of foul trouble will be crucial if Phoenix wants to pull off the upset. The same goes for Mark Williams (12.9 PPG, 8.9 RPG) as he battles Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein in the paint.

Suns vs Thunder Prediction, Betting Analysis

When betting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's points, the number matters. He has scored 30 points in 16 of 19 games this season, but has cleared 35 only three times, one of which came in double overtime. Tonight, his line sits on the lower end at 30.5, so I'm backing the over.

He has scored 31 in four straight games and in three of his past four matchups against the Suns. Phoenix is also allowing the most 3-pointers to point guards, and Gilgeous-Alexander has made two or more in 13 of 19 games this season.

Thirteen of Oklahoma City's 18 victories have come by 10 points or more. Adding the alternative spread of -9.5 brings the parlay to +160.

Pick: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 30.5 Points
