High Point vs UNC Pick
The UNC Tar Heels have been one of the hottest teams in the country and have risen to the No. 2 ranking in the nation.
It's no secret that the backbone of their run has been their pitching staff, and we should expect them to shine against an untested High Point lineup.
Getting the ball for the Tar Heels will be freshman Jackson Rose. Rose has put together a solid campaign and earned this midweek opener role. He has pitched to a 1.22 ERA over 22 innings of work.
Behind him is the rest of the UNC staff that holds a collective 3.40 ERA and is primed to contain a High Point lineup that has raked, to its credit. The Panthers have a. 400 wOBA and a 125 wRC+, but those are the numbers of a team with an RPI of 271.
On the other side of this matchup, High Point's pitching staff has been excellent in its own right. It holds a staff ERA of 3.95 and a WHIP of 1.33.
Starting for the Panthers is sophomore Justin Silverstein, who's due for positive regression.
Silverstein comes in with an 8.18 ERA over 11 innings of work, but his 3.88 SIERA and 30% strikeout rate are an indication of a guy with good stuff that could play up in this matchup.
While the caliber of High Point is a question mark, it's clear that it has talent and can play up to the Tar Heels. If it does, we should see a lower-scoring affair.
Pick: Under 13.5 (-120)
Nebraska vs Kansas Pick
The Nebraska Cornhuskers come into this matchup off a massive series sweep of the USC Trojans. They hit their way to three victories over one of the best pitching staffs in the country.
However, it sets them up for a letdown post as they're tasked with going on the road to face a Kansas team that beat them two weeks ago.
The Jayhawks are a very comparable team to the Cornhuskers offensively and have a pitching staff due for plenty of positive regression.
Kansas has already proven it can take down the Cornhuskers, and now it gets another opportunity to do so with Nebraska coming down off a big weekend.
While Nebraska deserves plenty of respect, it's clear that this matchup is mispriced and Kansas should be favored. Capitalize on the value tonight.
Pick: Kansas ML +105
