Texas Tech vs. Houston

Friday, March 15
7 p.m. ET
ESPN2

Joe Toussaint

Under 4.5 Assists (-115)

Houston plays at a bottom-15 pace in the country and has the number one shooting defense in the country, which means more missed shots. The Cougars also foul at a top-60 rate, which means fewer possessions end in shots. They also force turnovers at the third-highest rate, which means fewer possessions end in shots.

Also of note, Toussaint only had 2 assists in the Red Raiders' regular-season game against Houston.

I'm projecting him for a shade under four assists with a 63% chance of staying under 4.5.

Pick: Joe Toussaint Under 4.5 Assists (-115)

Pitt vs. North Carolina

Friday, March 15
7 p.m. ET
ESPN

North Carolina has a great shooting defense so while it will be tough to make 3s against them, there should be plenty of volume for a few reasons.

UNC plays up-tempo with a top-50 pace. The Tar Heels also don't force turnovers, doing so at a bottom-60 turnover rate, and have a bottom-70 foul rate.

All those factors mean more possessions and a higher fraction of them ending in shot attempts.

Hinson had 11 3-point attempts against the Tar Heels in the reg season meeting but made just two. That kind of volume should normally produce around four makes from beyond the arc for Hinson.

Hinson averages eight attempts from beyond the arc per game. With the higher pace and fraction of possessions ending in shots, though, I’m projecting closer to nine attempts, making around 3.3, going over 2.5 3-pointers about 60% of the time.

Pick: Blake Hinson Over 2.5 3-Pointers Made (+105)
