The 2024 women's college basketball tournament rolls into the Elite Eight on Sunday, as we tip things off with Oregon State vs the odds-on favorite to win it all, South Carolina.

The Gamecocks are big favorites on Sunday, with the point spread as high as South Carolina -15.5 against Oregon State. And while I'm expecting South Carolina to advance to the Final Four in Cleveland, our best bet for this one is to take the points.

The only team left in the tournament field that is 3-0 ATS has made its mark on the women’s basketball world.

Oregon State was picked by coaches to finish 10th in the Pac-12 this season, and now, they are one of the final eight teams left in the country. Oregon State knocked off Notre Dame as 4.5-point underdogs, in a truly remarkable way. The Beavers took 25 fewer shots than Notre Dame, had 21 more turnovers than the Irish and pulled out a 5-point win.

They did outrebound the Irish by 19 and were the only team this season outside of South Carolina to shoot better than 50% from the field against the Irish.

The Gamecocks looked to be in the same rhythm from their 47-point win against UNC through the first 23 minutes against Indiana, as they took a 22 point lead with just over 7 minutes left in the third.

Then, with a ton of lapses on defense, coupled with some turnovers and some missed shots, and the Gamecocks found themselves only up two with a minute left in the game. Raven Johnson hit a dagger 3 to seal the game the next possession, but it was definitely a wake up call for the perfect Gamecocks.

Oregon State has made their plea to be America’s team. They know they’re the heavy underdog, but the team is playing as composed and efficient as anyone left in the field.

South Carolina is a team that could absolutely run anyone out of the gym. Being perfect on the verge of the Final Four also comes with the pressure. We saw that with the Gamecocks nearly blowing a second half 22-point lead.

Scott Rueck has been great as an underdog this season. His Beavers are 11-2 ATS when an underdog and 3-0 as a double-digit dog. I see the Beavers playing as slow as possible and not letting the Gamecocks make this a track meet.
