Georgia State Betting Stats & 2019 Season Profile

  • Season Record: 7-5
  • Against-the-Spread Record: 6-4-2
  • Conference: Sun Belt
  • Offense Yards Per Play Rank: 64
  • Defense Yards Per Play Rank: 121
  • S&P+ Special Teams Rank: 117

Analysis: It didn’t take long for the Panthers to have their season highlight. A 38-30 win over Tennessee in Knoxville as 24.5-point underdogs to start the year was going to be hard to top on a schedule that included no other Power 5 teams. Georgia State went 6-5 the rest of the way despite some pretty horrible defensive play. The Panthers’ 6.64 yards allowed per play ranked 121st in the country (out of 130) in the regular season, and their 122nd ranking in defensive SP+ is dead-last among seven-win teams this year. Thankfully, on the offensive side they were able to rely on running back Tra Barnett, whose 1,389 rushing yards led the Sun Belt. –Danny Donahue

Wyoming Betting Stats & 2019 Season Profile

  • Season Record: 7-5
  • Against-the-Spread Record: 7-5
  • Conference: Mountain West
  • Offense Yards Per Play Rank: 96
  • Defense Yards Per Play Rank: 25
  • S&P+ Special Teams Rank: 51

Analysis: Wyoming’s season started off with a bang — a 37-31 win over Missouri as a 16.5-point underdog — though that bang doesn’t seem so loud anymore. Mizzou’s expectations were high entering the season, even with a pending bowl ban, but the Tigers ultimately won just six games. Still, Wyoming performed admirably in its other difficult matchups, never losing by more than five points until the final week of the season (20-6 at Air Force). Among those difficult matchups was a 20-17 overtime loss at Boise State, a game in which the Cowboys held a 7-point lead for most of the fourth quarter. Wyoming was one of just 25 teams to allow fewer than five yards per play on defense (just squeaking in at 4.99), led by Alijah Halliburton (conference-leading 119 tackles), Solomon Byrd (6.5 sacks) and Logan Wilson (four interceptions). –Danny Donahue
