East Texas A&M Lions Betting Preview: Better Than Expected

East Texas A&M comes in off a 42-13 defeat at the hands of SMU last week. The game was played closer than the final score indicated, as SMU had two defensive interceptions returned for touchdowns against the Lions to bust open what was otherwise a competitive first half.

The Lions were only outgained by 49 yards in this one and threw the ball around nicely with Eric Rodriguez and Will Madonna splitting reps. The ground game was limited here to just one explosive rush, as the offensive line was overmatched by SMU and its athletic front seven.

Defensively, East Texas A&M played much better than expected. It forced three turnovers, held the SMU ground attack in check and held up okay in pass coverage.

The game outcome was never undecided, but this group fought hard in a scenario where everyone expected it to fold its tent early and go home.

This was an impressive showing by a team that went off as 51.5-point underdogs at close.

Florida State Seminoles Betting Preview: Renewed Enthusiasm

The ‘Noles are back, baby! At least that's what I've been hearing all week after a convincing Florida State home victory over Alabama shocked the college football world.

Florida State had an excellent game plan against Alabama, and Gus Malzahn had the ground attack humming.

Transfer quarterback Thomas Castellanos made really smart decisions against the Tide and was efficient when asked to throw. FSU averaged six yards per play and was efficient in the red zone while playing a physical rushing attack that showed much more effectiveness than what we saw last season.

The Florida State defense was incredible at limiting Alabama's explosives and stifling the rushing attack. Alabama’s longest play on the ground covered just 13 yards, and the Noles' front seven did well to secure three sacks and seven tackles for loss.

This Florida State team played with renewed enthusiasm and cohesiveness that no one saw coming.

East Texas A&M vs Florida State Pick, Betting Analysis

In this game, I'm taking the under, which is currently 58.5. However, it's a tiny play.

Florida State has a bye week on deck here, and after an incredible win, it should completely focus its efforts elsewhere rather than maxing out to blow out East Texas A&M.

I would imagine we see the Noles go run heavy in this one. East Texas A&M held up well against the SMU ground attack, with the Mustangs' longest run from scrimmage being just 22 yards.

This suggests there's a chance this group will make FSU work a little bit.

East Texas A&M will attempt to throw the ball around a little bit here, but I would imagine it has very little success. After throwing two “pick-6’s” last week, I could see this group mailing it in with the game out of reach in the second half.

There's very little motivation for FSU to really put the hammer down here. I would expect the starters to play about a half, and for Mike Norvell to get deep into his roster before the bye week.

I would still expect FSU to win this game comfortably, but psychologically, it won't be easy to try to get this group up for this game after playing Alabama at home last week.

I think FSU will just look a little sluggish here, and understandably so.

Pick: Under 58.5
