We finally saw the Matt Entz offense.
Specifically, we saw what we wanted from the running game. The Bulldogs played bull ball, running for 351 yards and five touchdowns at an average of eight yards per carry. They dominated Georgia Southern in a 42-14 win.
Meanwhile, Oregon State has some serious issues in the trenches.
Against Cal, the Beavers failed to rush the passer, recording zero sacks against a true freshman quarterback. At the same time, they couldn’t run block, averaging 2.4 yards per carry with a solid running back — that’s a scary number for an offensive line that replaced four starters in the offseason.
I’m also not solid on Maalik Murphy. Jalon Daniels really bothered Fresno’s defense on scrambles, and Murphy isn’t a scrambler.
I think it could be a long season for the Beavers.
I believe that Fresno grew a lot from Week 1 to Week 2, and I’m willing to bet that the Bulldogs keep growing in Week 3.
