Illinois Illini vs Washington Huskies Betting Preview
Why Illinois Could Cover
Illinois' two losses are very respectable, falling to Ohio State and Indiana in convincing fashion. However, its five victories have also been impressive, as it has picked up those wins by unleashing an aerial offensive barrage.
Fighting Illini quarterback Luke Altmyer is one of the most underrated signal-callers in the country. He ranks fourth in the nation in completion percentage and ninth in yards per pass.
We should see him shine in this one against a Washington defense that ranks 95th in completion percentage, 42nd in yards per pass and 102nd in sack rate.
With time to throw, we've seen this Illinois offense be explosive, and that should be the theme of this matchup.
Why Washington Could Cover
While Altmyer certainly deserves his flowers, the other man under center in this matchup may even be better. Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr. ranks third in completion percentage and sixth in yards per pass.
His matchup is excellent, too, as the Fighting Illini are 112th in opponent completion percentage, 87th in yards per pass and 95th in sack rate.
Williams should lead the Huskies down the field with authority in this matchup because Illinois ranks 120th in opponent third-down coverage rate and 109th in red-zone scoring rate.
However, that's not all. The run game should be solid, too, with Jonah Coleman and Williams facing a defense that's 74th in yards per rush allowed.
Simply put, there's not much that will get the Huskies offense off the field in this matchup except for the end of a scoring drive.

How To Make Illinois vs Washington Picks
This total falling since open is peculiar. These teams are similar in tempo (77th and 78th, respectively), have stellar quarterbacks who push the ball down the field with efficiency and boast poor secondaries.
There may not be a better combination for points than that. Look for the Huskies to lead early and make Illinois get aggressive to stay close. Capitalize on that by taking the over.
Pick: Over 54.5
