Eagles vs. Commanders Prediction and Preview
Washington enters Sunday Night Football at 1-4-1 but comes in rested after its bye. The Commanders have struggled historically as divisional favorites, going 4-10 against the spread in that spot since 2020.
Philadelphia is 2-5 after five consecutive losses and has covered only once in seven games this season. The Eagles did win the first meeting between these teams 24-22 in Week 1.
Jayden Daniels remains one of the most important players in this matchup. He completed 29 of 40 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns in his last appearance and was a full participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday despite a left elbow injury.
Washington will be without Terry McLaurin after he suffered a torn patellar tendon against San Francisco. Our NFL touchdown props page has additional scoring markets for Sunday night's available skill players.
Philadelphia has even more uncertainty on offense. Jalen Hurts is likely out for the season, leaving Tanner McKee in line for his third consecutive start. McKee completed 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown in his last game.
Saquon Barkley missed Thursday's practice with hamstring and back issues, while DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks have also dealt with injuries. Their final availability will be important before kickoff.
Eagles vs. Commanders Odds for Sunday Night Football
BetMGM has Washington favored at home, while the total sits at 40 points. Philadelphia is around +220 on the moneyline.
| Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eagles | +6.5 (-112) | +220 | Over 40 (-110) |
| Commanders | -6.5 (-105) | -275 | Under 40 (-108) |
My Eagles vs. Commanders Prediction
- Eagles vs. Commanders prediction: Commanders moneyline (-275)
Washington is expensive on the moneyline, but I'd rather pay the price than lay 6.5 points in a divisional game.
Philadelphia has lost five straight, sits 1-6 against the spread and could be without several of its most important offensive players. McKee is also preparing for his third consecutive start in place of Hurts.
Daniels, meanwhile, practiced in full Wednesday and Thursday, and Washington has the rest advantage coming out of its bye. That makes Washington the more trustworthy outright side, even with the Commanders' poor historical record against the spread as a divisional favorite.
Dallas Goedert is another player worth monitoring. His target share could rise if Philadelphia remains short-handed at receiver, while Washington ranks last in DVOA against tight ends.
For additional angles, our NFL expert picks and general NFL picks cover the rest of Sunday's slate.
