Panthers vs. Packers Preview
Green Bay (4-3) hosts Carolina (3-3), and both teams are coming off losses. The Packers fell 20-17 in Detroit, and the Panthers took a 43-13 beating from Tampa Bay.
This is a passing game. Bryce Young is second in the NFL at 285.3 passing yards a game, and Jordan Love is fourth at 279.7. The Packers throw on 66.9% of their plays, the top rate in the league. They also rank last in rushing offense at 59.9 yards a game.
Injuries tilt the field. Four Panthers are out, including left guard Damien Lewis and edge rusher Jaelan Phillips. Carolina also has only two healthy cornerbacks on its 53-man roster. Green Bay is down three players, two of them linemen, and Micah Parsons is still out.
The Packers are home favorites of roughly four points. Eight of the last nine meetings ended in single digits, including Carolina's 16-13 win at Lambeau last season.
Carolina Panthers DFS Picks: McMillan and Young
Tetairoa McMillan Over 73.5 Receiving Yards
Tetairoa McMillan higher than 73.5 receiving yards leads my card 0f Panthers vs. Packers DFS picks.
McMillan is the engine of this passing game. He has 36 catches for 511 yards on 54 targets, which works out to 85.2 yards and nine targets a game. His yardage ranks 11th in the NFL. He gets big games when the volume shows up. He caught 14 passes for 192 yards and two scores against Detroit in Week 4.
He also topped 100 yards in both games where he saw 10 or more targets. At 6-foot-4, he is taller than Packers corners Keisean Nixon and Brandon Cisse. Carolina is a banged-up underdog that has to throw.
The risk is a Green Bay secondary with a league-high nine interceptions. McMillan also managed just 46 yards on six targets in last year's win here.
Bryce Young Over 252.5 Passing Yards
Bryce Young over 252.5 passing yards is the second pick on my card of Panthers vs. Packers DFS picks.
Young averages 285.3 yards a game over six starts. His 163 yards against Tampa Bay were a season low, and by my math his other five games average about 310.
That Tampa game was a mess. He took five sacks, threw two interceptions, and the Panthers trailed 17-0 in the second quarter. Carolina ranks third in pass rate over expectation, and another game as an underdog keeps the dropbacks coming.
Green Bay pressures 38.5% of dropbacks without blitzing, the fourth-highest rate in the league. It also allows a 45.1 passer rating on throws of 10 or more air yards. So I expect short, quick throws. Young has been better against extra rushers, averaging 0.17 yards over expected per drop back against the blitz.
Green Bay Packers DFS Picks: Watson and Love
Christian Watson Over 69.5 Receiving Yards
Christian Watson over 69.5 receiving yards is my third pick.
Watson is sixth in the NFL with 595 receiving yards, an average of 85 a game. His six touchdowns rank second in the league, and his 15 explosive plays are tied for fifth.
The matchup is soft. Carolina has let eight wide receivers reach 50 yards in six games, and with only two healthy cornerbacks, it can't cover everyone. Phillips is also out for a second straight game, so the Panthers lack their top pass rusher.
If Matthew Golden (shoulder/foot, questionable) sits, Watson becomes the clear top target. Green Bay's receivers have dropped 20 Love passes, the most in the NFL, so drops are the one thing that can hold him back.
Jordan Love Over 260.5 Passing Yards
Jordan Love over 260.5 passing yards is my fourth pick and rounds out this list of Panthers vs. Packers DFS picks.
Love has 1,958 passing yards and 13 touchdowns through seven games, against five interceptions. He has thrown for at least 274 yards in three straight games, including 274 and two touchdowns in the loss at Detroit.
The Packers can't run, so they keep throwing. They threw on 70.8% of their snaps last week even with Josh Jacobs back, and Jacobs gained just 36 yards on 11 carries.
The 260.5 line sits about 19 yards below Love's season average. My worry is protection, since two linemen are out. But Carolina's rush is thin without Phillips, and Green Bay has stayed pass-heavy through its line troubles all season.
My Panthers vs. Packers DFS Picks
Here is my full card of Panthers vs. Packers DFS picks. These lines are consensus numbers, so confirm each one in the Underdog app before you lock an entry.
| Player | Team | Pick | Season Average |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tetairoa McMillan | Panthers | Over 73.5 receiving yards | 85.2 yards a game |
| Bryce Young | Panthers | Over 252.5 passing yards | 285.3 yards a game |
| Christian Watson | Packers | Over 69.5 receiving yards | 85.0 yards a game |
| Jordan Love | Packers | Over 260.5 passing yards | 279.7 yards a game |
Two Panthers and two Packers meet Underdog's entry rule of at least three picks from two different teams. My Panthers vs. Packers prediction is a pass-heavy night, and each pick above fits it.
Check the final injury report before kickoff. Golden's status matters most, since it changes how many targets Watson and Love have to work with. If you like my analysis of TNF, sign up on Underdog, start playing, and claim the bonus.
