The Super Bowl is the “big game” in every sense. At the Action Network, we affectionately call it “our Super Bowl” – not because it’s the single-biggest annual event in American sports, but because of the near-countless ways it can be bet on.

Heads or tails on the coin toss? What color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach? How long will the Chiefs’ first punt be?

And, of course, the prediction all bettors and non-bettors are likely to make: Will the Chiefs or the Eagles win?

Most Popular Super Bowl Bets

Of the more than 20,000 bettors who had tracked a team-specific pick in the Action Network App by Monday of Super Bowl week, there was a near 50/50 split between those who made picks on the Eagles (11.9K) vs. the Chiefs (11.8K).

Unsurprisingly, Action app users in each team’s state favor their home team, but the regional splits corroborate an NFL nation that’s divided:

Super Bowl Prop Bets Reign Supreme

Perhaps surprising to non-bettors, early pick-tracking activity in the Action app suggests bets on which team will win aren’t the most popular type of pick – with plenty available to bet, player props are far and away the most popular pick type (as of Monday).

Wager Distribution by Bet Type

Anytime touchdowns are the most popular prop we’ve tracked thus far, representing more than 10% of the total Super Bowl picks in the Action app. With Travis Kelce and Jalen Hurts sporting the most favorable touchdown odds, it’s unsurprising they’re the most-picked player to score for their respective teams.

Super Bowl Parlay Bets Account for Large Handle

Anytime touchdowns aren’t alone in the popularity contest among Super Bowl pick types, though: Action app pick-tracking data also corroborates the cultural popularity of parlays, with more than one-quarter of picks tracked featuring more than one “leg” (i.e. bet).

Percentage of Total Bet Types

While parlays continue to rise in popularity among sports bettors, Action Network wants to remind its users that these wagers are much less likely to win. So be mindful of how many parlays you bet for Sunday’s game!
