Arizona Cardinals Betting Preview: No Ceiling
The Cardinals managed to secure a big "upset" in Week 1, but let's be honest about what we saw: Arizona beat a Chargers team that has been historically terrible as a favorite and profoundly dysfunctional in the early part of the season.
Arizona's ceiling simply isn't very high. Jacoby Brissett provides a decent floor of competency at quarterback, but he cannot go blow-for-blow in a shootout.
More pressingly, Arizona's secondary is completely decimated. Will Johnson is on IR, and Garrett Williams (Achilles) and Max Melton (thumb) are both dealing with injuries.
Being this shorthanded at cornerback against an elite passing attack is a recipe for disaster.
San Francisco 49ers Betting Preview: Purdy, Purdy Good
The 49ers are off to a flying start this season, and the most important part thus far is that they are relatively healthy.
Brock Purdy is playing awesome football right now — arguably on the exact same tier as Josh Allen through two weeks — and he is systematically ripping defenses apart. Purdy was surgical in Week 2, going 20-for-22 through the air for 287 yards and two touchdowns, with an additional 30 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Yes, the 49ers played an uncompetitive Dolphins team last week, but they also thoroughly dominated the Rams prior to that.
There is a massive talent gap in this game.
Even with Demarcus Robinson out, Purdy still has Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle at his disposal to completely overwhelm Arizona's depleted secondary.
