Bill Belichick will want to continue coaching and is expected to draw interest from at least some of the other seven NFL teams that currently have head coach vacancies, quite possibly the Atlanta Falcons, per league sources.

According to a report by NBC Sports Patriots reporter Tom Curran, a decision was made on Belichick's future back in November, following the Patriots' 10-6 loss to the Colts in Germany. Multiple reports described the split between Belichick and Patriots owner as a mutual decision.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Patriots linebackers coach Jerod Mayo is one of the leading candidates to replace the hall of fame coach. He also added that the Belichick is expected to pursue open coaching vacancies, specifically the Falcons job.

Belichick won an NFL-record six Super Bowls with the Patriots, most recently in 2019. He also was on two Super Bowl-winning teams with the New York Giants as an assistant. And for bettors, Belichick was often quite reliable in a number of ways – while he was paired with Tom Brady, anyway.

Here's everything you need to know about Bill Belichick's career in New England, his win-loss record, his record against the point spread, his career win total over/under record and more.

Bill Belichick Leaving Patriots

Bill Belichick Career Win-Loss Record

In New England, Belichick was 266-121 as a head coach in the regular season and 30-12 in the playoffs. For his career, Belichick had a regular-season record of 302-165 as a coach, a 64.7% win percentage. Belichick departs with the third-most wins for any coach in NFL history, behind George Halas (318) and Don Shula (328).

Bill Belichick Career Point Spread Record

For his career, Belichick is 254-200-13 against the spread in the regular season, a 55.8% cover percentage against the spread. Belichick's Patriots teams were 214-162-11 against the spread in the regular season, a 56.7% cover percentage. In the postseason, Belichick's Patriots teams were 21-20-1 against the spread.

Bill Belichick Career Win Total Over/Under Record

As for win totals, Belichick was 17-10-2 to the over on his teams' preseason over/unders in his career, going 15-7-2 with the Patriots and 2-3 with the Browns. With Tom Brady, that number was 14-3-2 to the over; without Brady, Belichick's teams were 3-7 to the over on preseason win totals in his career. New England's win total for the 2023 season was 7.5, the team's lowest since 2001 (6.5). The Patriots were +750 to win the AFC East entering the season, also their longest odds to win the division since 2001.

Prior to 2020, Belichick had just one losing season with the Patriots – his first, in 2000, when New England went 5-11. Over the past four seasons, though, the Patriots were 29-38, posting a losing record in three of those four seasons, including 2023's disappointing 4-13 record. (It's the first time in his career a Belichick-coached team failed to win at least five games.) Of course, 2019 was Brady's last season in New England.

Speaking of Brady, the Patriots spent 18 straight seasons with preseason odds of 20-1 or shorter to win the Super Bowl. Since Brady's departure, New England's Super Bowl odds have been 66-1, 40-1, 40-1 and 30-1 over the past four seasons.

Since Brady left, Belichick and the Patriots are 29-37-2 against the spread.

This is a developing story.
