Update: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is off the injury report and will play Sunday against the Lions after suffering an injury in the Divisional round.

Deebo Samuel is the Key to Niners Success

Everybody knows Deebo Samuel is a superstar and one of the best players on the 49ers. But how much of an impact does he truly make? The difference in the 49ers' record with him and without him is eye-popping.

Samuel has played in 13 of the 49ers' 18 games this season. In those 13 games, the Niners are 12-1 straight-up and 10-3 against the spread.

In the five games without him? The 49ers are a startling 1-4 straight-up and 0-5 against the spread.

When Samuel was out with an injury, All-Pro tackle Trent Williams was also out and the 49ers really struggled during that stretch. But even looking at Samuel's career as a whole, the numbers are still staggering.

The Niners have a 44-13 straight-up record when Samuel gets at least one target in a game. When he doesn't get a target, the 49ers are 9-10.

Samuel was sidelined from the Packers game after suffering a shoulder injury. Up until Wednesday, he had not practiced with the team. He is listed as questionable for Sunday's game — if he doesn't play, the 49ers, the current Super Bowl favorites, could be in some trouble.
