The NFL is back, and so too is Fanatics Sportsbook's Fair Play policy.
The NFL kicked off the 2026 season with a Super Bowl LX rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. While the Seahawks escaped with an ugly 13-10 victory thanks to a late-game Drake Maye blunder, both teams were unable to escape without a couple of impact injuries, triggering Fanatics' Fair Play.
The first was activated just five plays into the game as Seahawks starting quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a hip injury on a sack during Seattle's first drive and never returned. This resulted in Fanatics using the expanded Fair Play Max.
The next was when Patriots star wideout AJ Brown injured his ankle in the third quarter. Brown was the Pats' splashy acquisition this offseason, to help Maye's development and give him a weapon to take the top off a defense. Brown was targeted four times, catching three of them for 26 yards before suffering the injury.
Fanatics Fair Play policy states that if a player exits a game due to injury and is ruled out for the remainder of the game, they will refund straight player prop bets while voiding legs of same-game parlays involving the injured player. Those SGPs then pay out with recalculated odds.
Brown's case is a unique one because it highlights a new feature of the policy. The new 2nd Half Protection Tokens extend your player prop injury protection through the second half, when the protections in NFL games were previously limited to the first half. Users who applied the new second half protection tokens will get single bets credited back in FanCash, and SGPs paid in FanCash.
Injuries are just part of the job for NFL players, and seeing Fanatics Fair Play used twice in the first game of the NFL season shows how valuable this resource will be for bettors throughout the season.
