Betting on quarterback ineptitude is one of my NFL guilty pleasures. I especially like back-breaking interceptions that completely flip the momentum of the game.
That’s why I’m diving headfirst into the quarterback interception market to identify key spots each week to cash in on quarterback miscues.
Each week of the season, I’ll give my two favorites to throw a pick.
In 2025, my record was 20-16 for +7.5U. In 2024, I was able to finish at 19-17 for +4.2U, and part of the strategy is finding mispriced INT prices, especially if they're at plus odds.
Here are my two favorite NFL interception props for Week 9.

NFL Interception Props for Week 9
- J.J. McCarthy to Throw an Interception (-125, DraftKings)
- Kirk Cousins to Throw an Interception (+102, FanDuel)
When I’m looking at different interception props each week, my main goal is to find matchups with mispriced odds, and looking at this Giants vs. Eagles matchup, I almost spit my drink out when I saw Giants QB J.J. McCarthy odds' to throw an interception.
We’ve now seen McCarthy pass the first test, and that’s going into Houston and leaving without a turnover. In that game, his INT prop closed at -135, and while he ultimately didn’t throw one, he still left a couple danglers out there that were close to being picked.
Now the Giants are in Philly, which should be an even tougher environment. Despite only having three interceptions this year, the Eagles are still getting their nose on the ball. They rank eighth in total passes defended with 40, and of the eight teams with 40 or more passes defended this season, the Eagles are the only squad without at least six interceptions.
I know some people will look solely at that Texans result and think, “Well, the Eagles won’t score points, this will be a low total so McCarthy won’t have to throw” and forget what a disaster he was last season with the Vikings.
McCarthy had 12 interceptions in 10 games (eight of 10 overall) and had multiple games with an INT where he had 25 or fewer pass attempts. Ten of those 12 picks came when he was clean in the pocket, so let’s not take one recent result and completely overlook the overall sample.
It’s a divisional matchup on the road with a defense that still has blue-chippers at each level, so I’ll take McCarthy to turn back into a pumpkin in Week 9.
Pick: J.J. McCarthy to Throw an Interception
I’m not saying Raiders QB Kirk Cousins won’t play again this season, but if I had to pick a game where he gets benched for a subpar performance, this is it.
The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday, and the Raiders have said they don’t plan to trade Cousins, but a bad showing in San Francisco could change the equation.
The Raiders are one of the most pass-happy teams in the NFL and rank top-five in attempts, and it’s mainly because their run game has been so disappointing. Las Vegas ranks 31st in both rushing yards per game and rushing touchdowns (four) and may need to abandon the run even more on the road against the 49ers.
As for Cousins, he’s been pretty decent in not turning the ball over so far this year with only five interceptions, but the box scores don’t tell the true tale of the tape. He has seven turnover-worthy plays this year but only five interceptions, so it's a bit of good luck on his side.
As crazy as a sentence as this sounds, the 49ers are actually getting healthier with potential returns for DE Nick Bosa and CB Nate Hobbs, which should help generate some more pressure on Cousins — five of his seven TWPs have come when seeing pressure.
I had this priced closer to -120 given the pass frequency of Cousins, being huge road 'dogs, and the 49ers defense rested off their bye week.
Pick: Kirk Cousins to Throw an Interception
