This Week 5 NFC matchup between the undefeated Minnesota Vikings (4-0) and the New Orleans Saints (1-3) at the Caesars Superdome is a game of contrasts.

Minnesota enters as one of the NFC’s surprise contenders, riding a league-leading defense despite a struggling attack system under Kyler Murray. On the other hand, the Saints are desperate to protect their home turf after an erratic 4-week stretch marked by worrying defensive vulnerabilities and painful losses.

On paper, the Vikings should appear as heavy-favorites, but Kalshi traders have their reservations.

Let's get into my Vikings vs. Saints prediction and my NFL predictions for Week 5.

Saints vs. Vikings Picks

The spread opens with the Minnesota Vikings as narrow -1.5 road favorites at the Caesars Superdome. These conservative figures are primarily due to the team’s lack of offensive firepower, having generated just one offensive touchdown over their last three games.

Minnesota's covering the spread relies almost entirely on its elite defense keeping New Orleans at bay. If Brian Flores’ unit forces multi-turnover games or generates short fields, Minnesota can cover this tight number without needing explosive offensive production. On any other scenario, that outcome seems highly unlikely.

On Kalshi, backing New Orleans to cover +1.5 or outright winning trades at 42 cents a share. Given the Superdome environment and Minnesota's low offensive ceiling, taking the Saints at such a price sounds like a great deal.

The game total is set at 42.5 points, reflecting a direct clash between Minnesota’s #1-ranked scoring defense and New Orleans’ top-ranked passing volume.

The case for the Under 42.5 hinges on Minnesota’s tempo. The Vikings rank near the bottom of the NFL in offensive efficiency and third-down conversions, preferring to shorten games through Aaron Jones and conservative passing targets to T.J. Hockenson. If Minnesota restricts New Orleans' red-zone opportunities, this matchup easily stays in the high teens or low 20s.

On the straight-up moneyline, Minnesota trades as a slight road favorite, but as I pointed above, their 4-0 record masks severe offensive limitations. If Shough and Olave have a solid performance, New Orleans has the offensive firepower to secure a crucial home victory. I believe in backing the Saints in this matchup.

My Pick: Saints -1.5 on the Spread, Under 42.5 Totals.

Vikings vs. Saints Odds

NFL Week 5 Picks

The Minnesota Vikings arrive in New Orleans with an unblemished 4-0 record, primarily anchored by Brian Flores’ masterclass defensive unit. Minnesota’s defense ranks #1 in the NFL in points allowed (12.8 PPG) and defensive EPA.

At the same time, the New Orleans Saints are going through a tumultuous period. Second-year quarterback Tyler Shough has been forced into high-volume passing scripts due to a defense yielding 32.0 points per game and a struggling rushing attack without Travis Etienne.

The Saints’ core strength lies in their downfield passing explosiveness, but their primary weakness remains a run defense allowing over 147 rushing yards per game and a passive secondary that frequently struggles.

Given where both teams currently stand, we can expect a hard-fought first half with minimal scoring. A physical war of attrition as both sides attempt to neutralize each other. I believe the best strategy is to focus on two key players who could dictate the flow of the game.

With Jordan Addison sidelined and Minnesota's passing offense generating only one touchdown over its last three games, the Vikings' primary game plan revolves around Aaron Jones. Targeting him at 70+ Rushing Yards at 55 cents is a really solid deal.

Now let's talk about the Saints. Second-year quarterback Tyler Shough has thrown nearly 50 passes per game, making Olave his undisputed primary target. Olave has racked up 491 receiving yards through four games, so targeting him at 70+ Receiving Yards is a logical approach. I’d go as far as saying 80+ sounds like a solid prediction for Olave.
