The Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild have already met once in the past week. The Oilers got the best of the Wild, winning 5-2 in Edmonton on Friday, but now travel to the State of Hockey to try and take the latter half of the home and home.

This will be not only the third meeting of the season, but also of the month for the Wild and the Oilers. The home team has won each of the previous two matchups, but I have a feeling the road underdog might have the edge in this game.

Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers have been a bit of a fluky team this season, but you can't say the same about Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who continue to torch the entire league. The two of them are at the top of the league once again. McDavid leads the league with 54 points and Draisaitl is right behind him with 46.

The Oilers have been outstanding offensively and are averaging 3.64 goals per game (fifth in NHL), but haven't been nearly as strong in the defensive end. That being said, the past three games have been some of the Oilers better games in their own zone.

Stuart Skinner has taken over as the number one goalie for the Oilers and he has had a relatively strong showing in the blue paint. He's skated to a 9-6-0 record with a .919 save percentage and a 2.81 goals against average. However, he's only allowed seven goals against in his past three starts.

The Oilers power play has also been buzzing lately, scoring at a 50% success rate (4-for-8) in the past two games.

Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild are set to play their third game in four nights, which adds a little more to the challenge of taking on the Edmonton Oilers. This season has been an interesting one for the Wild. They got off to a horrendous start, but appear to be getting back to their winning ways. That being said, they need to get better results from their starting goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury. He's posted a 9-7-1 record with a .892 save percentage and a 3.16 goals against average.

Similar to Edmonton, the Wild also rely heavily on their top two players, Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello, for offensive production. Kaprizov has 17 goals and 17 assists, while Zuccarello has nine goals and 19 assists. After these two, there is somewhat of a drop off for the Wild. They are scoring 3.07 goals per game, but also allow 3.07 goals per game.

The Wild are certainly a good team, but they are also a group with a lot of flaws and are underperforming this season.

Oilers vs. Wild Pick

Even though the home team has won both of the prior meetings between these two teams, I really like the Edmonton Oilers on the road in this game.

Playing three games in four nights is a heavy workload for any NHL team and when a team has played that much hockey in such a quick span it is tough to keep up with anyone, especially a team as fast as the Oilers.

Skinner has been much better than Fleury in goal this season, so I feel the Oilers have edges both offensively and in goal.

Don't forget about how crucial the special teams are. The Oilers power play is on fire right now, while the Wild remain in the middle of the pack when playing a man down.

I like the Oilers a lot in this spot.
