For tonight's abbreviated three-game NHL slate, which includes a doubleheader on TNT, I've identified three players for my NHL anytime goalscorer picks, and I believe all three offer value for bettors.
Betting on NHL anytime goalscorers is simple enough: If your player scores a goal at any point in the game, your bet is a winner. MLB has its dingers; the NHL has its anytime goalscorers. And with both types of player props, the bets usually come with plus-money odds attached to them, so they're a favorite among all types of sports bettors.

Sabres vs. Maple Leafs
The first game of Wednesday night's TNT doubleheader features an Atlantic Division tilt as the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Buffalo Sabres. Oddsmakers are expecting a high-scoring affair as the total sits at 6.5 across the board, partly due to the fact that Toronto bleeds high-danger scoring chances.
At 5-on-5, the Leafs rank 26th in the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). Backing up this inefficient blue line is goaltender Ilya Samsonov, who has struggled to deal with the product in front of him this season.
Through 28 starts, Samsonov possesses a .883 SV% and 3.23 GAA. With this combination of poor defensive play and goaltending, it is not shocking that the Maple Leafs rank 20th in goals allowed per game.
That brings us to Buffalo forward Tage Thompson, who enters this contest in good form with two goals over his past four games. This success is likely to continue against Toronto. Thompson always seems to dominate the team and has six goals over his past nine games against the Leafs.
Pick: Tage Thompson (+210 at FanDuel – 0.5 Units)
Sabres vs. Maple Leafs
I am risking a half-unit on Thompson to score along with another half-unit on his teammate, Jeff Skinner. My thinking here is that I am fairly confident that at least one of these two guys will find the back of the net, which guarantees a profit. And, if both score, then all the better.
Both guys can score at even-strength, ranking first and third on the team in goals this season. These two forwards also rank first and second in power-play goals, which is important to note in this matchup as the Maple Leafs rank 21st in penalty-kill percentage.
Additionally, Thompson and Skinner skate on different power-play units, so we will have the benefit of always having one of them out there during the man advantage. At least one of these two guys has scored in six of Buffalo's past eight games.
Finally, like Thompson, Skinner has torched the Leafs with eight goals scored over his past nine games against them. Thompson and Skinner have both scored in each of the two games against Toronto this season.
Pick: Jeff Skinner (+240 at FanDuel – 0.5 Units)
Red Wings vs. Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche host the Detroit Red Wings in the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader on TNT. The total for this contest also sits at 6.5 across the board, which makes sense considering the offensive firepower on each team.
This bodes well for backing an anytime goalscorer prop, and we are going to target Detroit forward Alex DeBrincat to find the back of the net. With Dylan Larkin nursing an injury and officially listed as week-to-week, there is no denying that DeBrincat is now the leading goalscoring option on the Wings.
Taking out Larkin, DeBrincat leads the team in goals and power-play goals, which is going to be beneficial against a Colorado team that ranks in the bottom half of the league in goals allowed per game and penalty minutes taken per game. Backing up this group is goaltender Alexandar Georgiev, who has been inconsistent this year with a .899 SV%.
Georgiev has now allowed four or more goals in seven of his past 14 starts. That could be problematic against DeBrincat, who enters this matchup in great form with four goals over his past five games.
