NHL Predictions: SGP for Oilers vs. Panthers Game 2

My Oilers vs. Panthers same game parlay for tonight is a three-legger and will focus on a bounce-back win from the Oilers.

  • Edmonton Oilers Moneyline (+115)
  • Evan Bouchard Over 2.5 Shots on Goal, Over 0.5 Points (-125)
  • Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Assists (-220)

Parlay Odds: +450 via bet365

Oilers ML +115

The Oilers thoroughly outplayed the Panthers in Game 1, and if not for an abnormally tough night in terms of finishing quality scoring chances, they could've won handily.

Sergei Bobrovsky authored a historically strong performance in goal, stopping 31 shots and posting +3.66 goals saved above expected. A +3.66 GSAx is the highest single-game score of any goaltender this postseason.

The Oilers lead on high danger chances 18-6 and they generated 19 shots on goal from the slot. Their 7:51 of offensive zone possession time was the most the Panthers have allowed this postseason.

Edmonton led the league in chance creation during the regular season, and it proved that strength in Game 1 versus the best defensive team in the league. It seems probable that the Panthers won't allow so many grade "A" looks Monday and will ask less of Bobrovsky.

Still, it's also highly unlikely a side with as many elite finishers as the Oilers will waste quality looks once again.

On both of the Panthers' Game 1 goals, it was Edmonton's second defensive pairing of Darnell Nurse and Cody Ceci that was exposed. It didn't really make sense to see that duo reunited for Game 1, but the good news for Oilers fans is based upon today's morning skate, they won't be together tonight.

It looks like Vincent Desharnais will return to the lineup in place of Ceci and will play alongside Nurse on the third pairing.

At +115, the Oilers present value in a game that feels much closer to a coin-flip.

Evan Bouchard Over 2.5 Shots on Goal, Over 0.5 Points (-125)

Evan Bouchard and Mattias Ekholm continued the even-strength dominance we've seen all season long in Game 1.

With the pair on the ice, the Oilers out-attempted the Panthers 28-9 and led on shots on goal, 12-6. They played to a 71.7% goal share in 5-on-5 play.

Bouchard leads all skaters with 17 shot attempts across all strengths in Game 1, leading to a total of four shots on target. He's averaging 3.05 shots on goal per game this postseason and leads the team with 19.95 shot attempts per 60.

He's put up 27 points in just 20 games this postseason and will remain well situated to do damage in tonight's matchup.

Kris Knoblauch continues to try and use Bouchard and Ekholm on Connor McDavid's line at even strength, offering offensive zone starts to attack as much as possible.

Those five created plenty of scoring chances at even strength in Game 1 and should be counted on to produce if the Oilers do find a way to knot it up tonight.

Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Assists

Many of the questions entering this series revolved around whether or not McDavid would be able to create offense against Aleksander Barkov's line, Gustav Forsling's defense pair and an altogether elite Panthers defensive side.

For the time being, it looks like the answer is yes.

McDavid looked particularly dangerous in Game 1 and was in line for primary assists on several of the Oilers' best chances.

He's authored one of the best postseasons in recent memory, and if the Oilers get right tonight, it should be a safe bet that McDavid is the main reason why.
