- Capitals ML at Predators
Jets vs Lightning Pick
The Jets (4-5-3) are mired in a prolonged slump, losing six in a row, including a 5-1 blowout vs. the Panthers in their last game. During this stretch, Winnipeg has been held to two goals or fewer in five of those games and is in a tough spot on the road against the Lightning (7-3-1).
While Tampa has lost two in a row, those were two tough games on the road against the Avalanche and Mammoth. The Bolts haven't played since Oct. 24, so they're on four days' rest. Meanwhile, it's the Jets' third game in the last five games.
With the rest advantage against a slumping team, this is the ideal get-right spot for the Lightning.
They're highly priced on the moneyline, so we'll take the Lightning to win in regulation for a more palatable cost here.
Pick: Lightning Regulation ML
Blue Jackets vs Hurricanes Pick
The Blue Jackets (5-5-0) have won two in a row, knocking off the Golden Knights and Flyers. But this is still a team that is averaging only 2.5 goals per game, which is 28th in the NHL. That's what makes this spot against the Hurricanes (10-2-2) so tough.
Carolina has been on fire lately, going 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. They have allowed a combined one goal in their last two. Facing a Blue Jackets team that has a tough time finding the back of the net, this feels like another low-scoring game.
The Canes are allowing the fewest shots on goal in the NHL, making this look like the ideal game environment for Under 6.5.
Pick: Under 6.5 (FanDuel)
Capitals vs Predators Pick
The Capitals (7-4-0) came into the season with Stanley Cup aspirations. They're starting to kick it into high gear, winning two in a row, including a convincing victory over the Flyers in their last game. Meanwhile, the Predators (4-3-5) are a bubble team fighting for a playoff spot at best.
Nashville has lost three of its last four games, including a 6-0 blowout against the Bruins on Oct. 22. Facing a Capitals team that is deep up front could make this a difficult spot for them.
I love getting the Capitals as short underdogs here. We get a discount because Charlie Lindgren is expected to start instead of Logan Thompson. I know it's a downgrade in goal, but I can't pass up getting the better team as underdogs. I'll ride with the Capitals ML here.
Pick: Capitals ML (FanDuel)
