NHL Props Today: Expert’s Best Bets for Brayden Point, Evgeni Malkin & Sidney Crosby (Tuesday, April 11)

NHL Player Props For Tuesday, April 11

Brayden Point Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (+108) · Any Time Goalscorer (+130)

Due to some cap complications, Toronto must request to add backup goaltender Joseph Woll to the roster under emergency conditions. If the league does not approve of regular third stringer Woll, the Leafs will quite possibly turn to an emergency option who is drastically below the NHL level in Nick Chenard.

Playing Ilya Samsonov on back-to-back nights with nothing on the line makes absolutely zero sense, so either way we can count on Toronto playing a weaker goaltending option.

That is immediately a good start to Point potentially recording what would would be his 50th goal of the season, which is a massive milestone that players and teammates do take seriously whether they admit it or not.

In all likelihood Point will not play game 82, so this is his opportunity to hit the milestone.

This is a complete tune up game for both sides, with absolutely nothing on the line. Point's teammates will love to get him chances, and considering how he Kucherov and Hagel have looked on an average night at even strength that is a great thing.

Point has recorded a single goal in 39 of his 80 games played this season, so in a spot where Tampa's team total is now 3.5 juiced to the over, it's already easy to say +130 is a very reasonable price.

He and the Lightning's top stars will not play big minutes, but getting Point to 50 will be one of the more important storylines in this matchup and I like the chance he does it more than +134 suggests.

Backing Point to record over 2.5 shots on goal at +108 also makes a lot of sense in this spot, where we are banking on Point firing away to hit the milestone, and in a game where Toronto may not be skating as defensively stout a roster as usual.

Evgeni Malkin Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (-130)

With Pittsburgh's season on the line it will host the lowly Blackhawks as gigantic -550 favorites, and I really am not seeing why Malkin's shot prop price is sitting where it has been at the majority of the Pens' push to the playoffs.

Malkin has been very involved, and is making a difference all over the ice. With Pittsburgh's season on the line we can count on strong usage from Malkin, who should be able to generate a lot of attempts on goal versus such a poor defensive side which skated last night versus Minnesota.

Malkin has hit this number in six of his last seven games while averaging 3.5 shots on goal, and I believe it is a safe time to target another solid performance in this very soft matchup.

Sidney Crosby Powerplay Point (+112), Over 1.5 Points +160

Pittsburgh's Captain is not looking to see his sides 16 season long playoff streak end anytime soon, and made that point clear with two goals and one assist last time out versus Detroit.

He gets as good of a matchup here as you can possibly find, and both of these props are very interesting looks priced at better than plus money.

Over the last eight games Pittsburgh has received 4.66 powerplay opportunities per game, which is a sky-high average relative to league average. It should be able to draw a solid amount of powerplays in this spot, and it will likely do damage if that is the case versus a Blackhawks off just 76.4% of opportunities.

On top of that Chicago's kill rates even slightly worse in tonight's matchup, as Petr Mrazek has been Chicago's worst goaltending option with a -8.5 GSAx.
