Olympiacos vs. Arsenal Pick

Pick: Arsenal To Win To Nil

Arsenal made a winning start to their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Club. Mikel Arteta’s side now play their first home game of the league phase, and we are backing them to win and keep a clean sheet once again as part of our Arsenal vs Olympiacos predictions.

Over the past three seasons, the Gunners have had the best defensive record in the Premier League by some distance. They’ve conceded 66 goals across 82 matches, 18 fewer than Manchester City, who have the second-best defensive record over that period.

That sublime defensive record has translated to the Champions League. Arsenal have kept clean sheets in nine of their 12 home matches in this competition since the start of the 2023/24 campaign. They look defensively sound once again and should have what it takes to keep the opposition out here, even if Arteta decides to rotate his squad.

Olympiacos scores plenty of goals in their domestic league, but struggled in their Champions League opener against Pafos. They were unable to break the deadlock despite playing against 10 men for over an hour, which doesn’t bode well as they gear up to face an Arsenal side that is full of confidence.

The visitors have failed to score in five of their last 10 European away matches. None of those games were in the Champions League, and Arsenal represents their toughest test on the road for several years. Expect a one-sided affair at the Emirates.

Olympiacos vs. Arsenal Betting Analysis

Arsenal hosts Olympiacos for a Champions League match that is more significant than many would expect. They have a dire record against the Greek side. Amazingly, Olympiacos has won its last three away matches against Arsenal. Two of those were in Mikel Arteta’s reign in charge.

A lot has changed since those recent Europa League meetings. The Arsenal vs Olympiacos odds suggest as much. The host side is the big favorite here to win the match.

The Gunners are at a short price of around 1.18/-555 to get the three League Phase points on Wednesday. As far as the bookmakers are concerned, this is about as one-sided a clash as you will see on Matchday 2. The host side is given around an 85% chance of winning the match. That’s amongst the shortest prices you’ll get for any side in the Champions League this week.

Although the Greek club won 3-2 in 2015, 2-1 in 2020, and 1-0 in 2021, the most recent of their meetings in London, the bookies aren’t expecting another away win here.

Mikel Arteta’s side is the big favorite to go on and win this and to win it well. The Asian handicap line is Arsenal -2. Those backing the Gunners on that line would need an Arsenal win of at least three goals to pay.

Olympiacos vs. Arsenal Projected Starting Lineups
